Garden Photography
It's time for another gardening report, so today I'd like t show you what we have and what we don't have in the garden. It's mid August, so I guess it's safe to say the gardening season is heading towards the end as gardening is not an all year round thing here. We're supposed to have 4 seasons, of which we have three, but one is winter, which makes outdoor gardening impossible.
Today I have good news and bad news as well, but lucky us, the bad news is less and I'm going to start with that. But before I start, I must apologize for the weeds, there's plenty now in the garden as it's towards the end of the season and there's no point in wasting time and energy with it. In a few weeks the season is over.
Here we have two cucumber stems, completely dry. These were the first two and it looks like their time have passed.
At first glance the rest doesn't look good either, but that's just from far, so let's have a closer look at it.
So even thought the leaves are starting be rusty, the cucumbers are still growing nicely. These are already good to harvest.
And because this is a photography post, here's my favorite, a cucumber macro. I've said it a number of times, that from photographic point of view, small cucumbers and very young cucumber leaves are the best in the garden.
Here's a bonus for you. While I was taking photos of this little one, a bee came by and started working on the flower.
If you're reading my post, you most likely speak English and know the saying "cute as a cucumber". Now look at this little cutie to know where the saying is coming from :) This is a macro photo as this little cutie is so tiny.
Next is the celery, of which we use both the leaves and the root. This year the celery is looking exceptionally good.
Eggplants are looking good, can't really complain but the truth is, we are used to what they are growing down south, which is 3 times of the size of these. Most likely the soil is not suitable here, so the quantity of eggplants we're growing is tiny, compared to what we put in the freezer for winter. We usually buy 40kg each year from the farmers market. These few are for consumption, just to have a few.
This is a new type of honeydew, we've never had it before and have no idea when it's ripe. It looks good already but my dad said let's leave it for a couple of weeks, then we'll see. I'm curious to see what it tastes like.
This is the other type we know for years and it's like honey. Being called honeydew is not a coincidence by the way :)
Looks like 2022 was the best year for beetroots as we've never had so big ones.
And I can say the same about cauliflower. These are very tricky but I suppose it depends on the type. We usually had crappy ones, but these look very nice and healthy.
This is where the cauliflowers will end up, in the jars, as pickles. Yummy pickles.
And now fasten your seat belt and let the tomato show begin.
This one is sitting comfortably on the ground :)
At this point I thought I need to show you how big these tomatoes are as maybe you think this is macro photo, but it's not.
The biggest tomato this year was a 0.82kg one, which went to my brother. That is enough for a whole family as you can't eat it all alone.
We're lucky as the majority of the tomatoes are this big, exception is the small ones, the cherry tomatoes, that are not supposed to be big.
Sometimes I'm wondering how those stems are able to hold so much weight. There are 3 tomatoes on this last photo and their weight is around 1.5kg.
This is it for today, stay tuned for the next episode :)

What a good sight to see these kind of vegetables tonight. Although I saw veges everyday since I have planted some. Cucumbers are easily to grow and care of. They gave us fruitful harvest last season.
I haven't tried to plant cauliflower since its not good for the land here or I guess I don't have any experience or knowledge about it. Would love to see the ripe tomatoes soon. They're so big.
You're right, the soil is not good for everything. We're also struggling with a few veggies but finally decided to reduce the variety to those that can grow without any problems. There's no point to struggle if you don't get results.
I hope your gardening season is going well, so wishing you good luck!
what a joy it is to have a garden. I want to have a garden like that, but I don't have land
It's difficult when you don't have land. Some are renting land but it's risky as in many cases the crops is stolen before you can harvest, which is painful. I hope you will have some land one day.
hopefully so. If I had money, I would buy a house with a garden in the yard
Woag the veggies look so colorful and fresh. I thought on the first glance it's a squash flower but it's a macro photo of cucumber. I wish I also have this kind wherein I can plant some crops.
Yeah, squash flower looks similar but it's 20 times bigger 😂 This flower is so tiny. Just look at the bee, it a little bigger than the bee.
The garden posts I see make me want to start a garden myself. Maybe I’ll actually do it once I’m back home.
Until I read this post, I didn’t know what beetroot is. Lol I’ve never had pickles either, just heard of them in the movies but I didn’t know they were made from cauliflower either. Damn there’s a lot I don’t know.
Seeing the white rope fastening the tomato stem to the stick reminded me of gardens we used to construct as kids. Around here, it is mostly kids that have the passion of creating gardens. Surprisingly, they mostly just do it for fun though. Or should I say used to. Kids these days don’t give two shits about gardening anymore. Not when there are consoles and all sorts of other stuff to play with.
I like how you put your hand next to the veggies to show us which one were macro photos and which ones were not. Great job! I’ll be waiting for your harvesting🙃
Wow, this is an interesting comment. How come you've never had pickles 😯 We always have a lot for winter, obviously because we can grow the veggies.
It's a very good thing to teach kids gardening but as you say, if it's just for fun and there's no commitment, then what's the point?
Here the situation is the same, maybe village kids are put to work in the garden but playing video games seems to be more fun. Don't tell anyone but I hated gardening so much, when I was a teenager and we went to visit the grandparents. They always put me to watch the house and maybe do some chores. My grandmother almost fainted when I showed up with long red nails 💅 🤣😂 and how I loved to make her angry 😂🤣 Yeah, I'm evil 😈
Lol that’s the thing, we don’t have winter here. As far as I know, there are only two seasons here. Rainy and Dry season. That affects how and what we farm.
A lot of things I see on your blog are new to me. Obviously not completely new, but new in the sense that I’ve not seen people actually do them in real life, just in the movies.
Evil spawn of the devil😂😂, punishing poor granny with those long red nails she hated just because she made you watch the house during your visits. But don’t worry, as long as you haven’t told anyone about that tasty pork, I won’t breath a word about this to a soul either.🤝😌
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 Thank you for keeping my secret safe, I really appreciate it 😇
Well, gardening there nust be really different. I suppose we would have to learn it all over again as what we know would serve for nothing. It would be interesting though.
Thanks for letting me know that you see some things on my blog you've never seen before. It's interesting 😀
Haha I got you😉
My pleasure.
You have some very good looking vegetables. The eggplants and tomatoes look great. Here in Bulgaria also in the late summer and early autumn the gardening season is pretty much over. Well this means the next one is approaching an you’ll have a well deserved rest.
Thank you for the nice words.
Bulgaria has almost the same weather although it should be a little warmer.
Indeed, the season is almost over, sovrest is coming soon.
You've got a very beautiful garden!
Weldon @erikah
The beetroot my newly discovered favourite.
That's like the biggest I've seen.
I can't wait to see , when you get to harvest season!!
Thank you but this is the merit of my dad as I'm only helping occasionally. Beetroots are of all sizes but this year they seem to be of decent sizes.
I'm going to post the harvest most likely and the pickle recipe as well.
Thanks for dropping by.
Ohh your dad is putting lots of energy and is a good Gardner too.
I'm patiently waiting for the harvest.
And oh your welcome 🤗

Que bonita cosecha de verdad, estoy impactada con el tamaño y peso de los tomates, es una lastima que en invierno no se pueda cosechar, lo bueno es que aprovecharon muy bien las demás temporadas 🙏🙌
Indeed, we have four seasons and winter is pretty tough here. Sometimes we have -20C, so the gardening season is six month long. But we make juice and sauces for winter. Thanks for stopping by and sorry for the late reply.
Great way to save up time picking weeds, nylon!
Is that yellow cherry or just isn't ripen yet?
Used it when had strawberry plantation, but seems like next year it will be placed all over.
Yeah, we decided to go with these sheets to stop weeds a few years ago and it was the best decision. It saves time and energy and it's better for the plants too.
It's yellow cherry tomatoes indeed. It's a very interesting and delicious type by the way. We also have black cherry tomatoes but those are also still green right now. Maybe in a few days I can take some photos.
I know strawberries are also planted on nylon sheets to stop weeds but also to keep the fruits clean. It's a good tool to have.
Black? Never tasted them, any difference or just the peel color? Yellowish is great winter sweet delicacy.
Foil will definitely be used for the carrots and peppers!
It has a different taste, which is good as you can make a tomato salad and have different aromas.
Wow..such a beautiful and lovely garden friend.. i miss doing gardening at home🥺🥺
Thank you! Maybe one day you'll have the opportunity.
Yes maam...thank you!
I enjoyed this beautiful garden full of crops. be blessed We also saw all these in my father's garden and I also had the experience of collecting them. Why are your cucumbers like this? We don't have this cucumber seed and we don't. Honeydew or melon is also sweet.😊
I'm glad to hear you had a garden and know how different the homegrown veggies taste.
What do you mean be "why are your cucumbers like this"? I don't understand.
Hi @erikah, greetings to you, I want to ask you a little bit, I want to join this community, are there any specific requirements for it, sorry I am still a beginner in hive🙏
Hello there. Which community you'd like to join?
Photography lovers, I think it's a nice and unique community
You can join, there are no strings attached. It's open to anyone, for professionals and crappy photographers like me 😂
Oh thank you very much for your direction, no need to be humble with your work, I'm sure you'll be heading to the top soon
Lol, I'm not sure about that as I don't aspire for high places. I'm just having some fun 😄
Ya I see your pleasure, and I think you deserve to be used as a future idol, in contrast to me, to improve my rc alone I have to really work hard😅
Oh no! Please don't put me on a pedestal 😂
I'm talking facts here, and by the way I still have some questions to you, can you give me your discord or whats up number, rc I'm in crisis and I can no longer reply to comments😅😅😂🙏
Now you can. I've just delegated you 50 HP and these are the conditions.
You can enjoy the delegation till you get to 75 HP, with the condition to power up every penny you earn. If you start to transfer funds to exchanges or another account before you get to 75 HP, the delegation will be removed.
It will also be removed if you're caught plagiarizing or reposting content, which is also not appropriated on hive.
What do you say? Do we have a deal? 🙂
And before you think I'd like to make you a slave, this is my way of helping you grow on hive.
I am very grateful to you, I promise to continue to try as much as I can without having to commit plagiarism
Good, I'm glad to hear that. Now tell me how can I help you? What guidance do you need?
Yaa, What about my travel photos in the past can I post them here, I have been wandering for three years around the whole country, it is a pity if I can't share my experience😅🙏
You can post them in this community, if those photos haven't been posted yet. Reposting content is seen as abuse. You can also post them in Pinmapple if you make your post travel related.
I haven't posted it at all, it's a photo 6 years ago, masa-masa wajah saya masih manis dan imut😂
Why can't I post anywhere, is there an incident like this
We have different communities on Hive and we're encouraging users to post in the right community based on the topic of the post. Here's a guide I put together to help you learn about how communities work and why you should use them -> Communities Explained - Newbie Guide.
You don't have to do that,, I just need guidance from you, how I'll repay it if it's like this
Now you should be able to ask me here.
Happily, but it's three o'clock in the morning here now and I haven't rested yet😅🙏, I will continue to follow you and without hesitation ask if in need, may you always be healthy 🙏🙏🙏
Ok.
