From Architecture, To Seasons

It's time for another photography parade, a mix basically, a little bit of everything. Sometimes it's nice to just post random photos that have nothing to do with each other. A few years ago I used to post 3 photos, that had nothing to do with each other and ask readers which one they like and why. Without knowing it, or planning it, I'm doing that again.

20221126_113101a.jpg

This was a setup in front of a restaurant's gate, which could have been super cool, if it wasn't for the open door and the Christmas lights (the wires). Maybe I'm too fussy, but pumpkins don't go well with Christmas lights. Pumpkins represent autumn and Christmas lights are for Christmas, obviously. This is the time when I regret not having the freedom to rearrange the scene as I like, but private property must be respected.

Next, there was this Christmas wreath, which I photographed at the Bolyai square in Targu Mures. This wreath has 3m in diameter and it's the biggest I've ever seen. Has 4 candles for the 4 Sundays of Advent. Each Sunday one of the candles is lit and each time by a different church representative. There are different religions in the city, so it's nice to see them coming together for the nicest time of the year.

20221126_114310a.jpg

The square, just as the school next to it, got the name from the famous mathematicians, father and son, Farkas Bolyai and János Bolyai.

20221126_114310a1.jpg

This is a black and white attempt but it's not better than the original.

The statues of the two mathematicians that have their names written in history books now.

20221126_114337a.jpg

This is the high school, that got its name from the father. It's been recently renovated. Last time I was there it was all covered and could not take a single photo of the building, which, from architectural point of view is beautiful by the way. This photo was taken in November, on a gloomy day, which takes away a little from its beauty, but what can we do. We can't always have optimal conditions. My focus was on getting the lines straight anyway.

20221126_114339a.jpg

This is the original.

20221126_114348a.jpg

I wanted to show you the details of the building, so I took a closer shot.

20221126_114358a.jpg

This looks like an amateur move (not that I'm not amateur) as I could not capture the whole building in one photo the way I wanted it. Should have stepped into mud aaaand ... well, ladies are not very keen on stepping in mud, so I sacrificed quality for clean shoes.

20221126_114424a.jpg

The door was fascinating, so I took this shot, while praying not to see my reflection on the glass.

20221126_114500a.jpg

The window was an easier job as it was on the first floor, so there was no risk of reflection in that case.

20221122_141736a.jpg

A different building in monochromes.

Reviewing these photos made me realize there's a lot to learn. I'm not particularly proud of them, there's always room for improvement, but at least I know what to focus on.

Oh my god! What a read!

First, the first image looks like a date in Halloween 🎃 hehehe. I love the view and the setting.

Second, the next image is just mind blowing. I love the center of the square. It was like I should be right in the middle.

And lastly. What a great caption and capture of the historical building… I love the all around captures and the zooms too.

The fact that you took black and white photographs as well as color photographs added a different beauty to the article.

This is a black and white attempt but it's not better than the original.

I think I like the black and white better. Look like it’s from the olden days.

I really love your photography skills. The pictures look very beautiful.

Thank you! Everyone sees things differently, some like the original, others the monochrome. I'm glad you like the black and white.

For some of the details that I found above, they all look quite interesting, even though some of them are B&W in style but no less interesting than some of the other shots.

Details are better highlighted in black and white. When you take away the colors, the details remain.

Details are important and every angle shows you a different picture. I don't know how Mr and Miss Pumpkin is as I haven't been to visit them.
Breaking a phone is never funny, especially when you have to replace it. So good luck.
