Another Gardening Report
The first week of August is ending today an the gardening season is also closer to the end than to the beginning. Fruits are gone, except for the grapes and there are veggies that are close to being done as well. I took some photos of what we have right now, so you can see the fruit of our work.
Let's start with some tiny tomatoes 😂. Unfortunately these are not the biggest ones. My dad has already harvested those and made juice.
He took some photos of the biggest ones, so here they are. Sorry for the quality, the photos were not meant for the blog, but I want to show you the beauties of the garden. So the biggest one was 976g, which is 0.976kg. One single tomato 😁.
Personally, I prefer this type of tomatoes as it has a different structure, if I can use this expression. Not that the other is not good, it's jut that this one is easier to slice and looks better as well.
Cherry tomatoes are looking good. These are heavenly good for breakfast, dinner or for salad. You cut them in half and that is all.
These are a bit bigger and very delicious too. Also perfect for raw consumption.
These are also ripen nicely. It's a very delicious type, I already had quite a few.
The truth is, this year was perfect for the tomatoes, we had quit many and the weather was good as well. The season is not over yet, only half of it for the tomatoes, so this week we're making as much juice as possible. Usually we're canning everything that is not consumed raw as wasting is not an option here. With these market prices it would be foolish to throw away good products.
Peppers are preparing to ripe, but they still need two weeks or so. As you can see, I put my gardening nail polish on 😂. The truth is, this green looked kind of good in the bottle, but applied looks like diarrhea 🤣. But never mind, it looks great for gardening. Last time I also used it, but then the tomatoes were still green. Now I thought it would be better to use red, but still decided to stick to green.
These are not small peppers and will be green at the end. Next time I'll be able to show some lovely rd ones. Maybe change my nail polish to red? 🤔
This is a different type and it's better to eat is raw. The skin of the pepper is not so thick, it's easier for the stomach.
Now let's talk about my biggest enemies. This tiny cheeky thing is called apple paprika because it looks like an apple, but it's way smaller. Why is it my enemy? Because it's hot like hell and I hate hot paprika and hot food in general.
This is the other one. Tiny, it's not longer than 2cm and it is considered decorative paprika. You can grow them in a pot in your apartment or balcony, as it looks like a decorative flower, but in fact it's real paprika and it's hot like hell, even hotter than the previous one. So no way I'm going to at this, or the other one. Nooooo way!
This year we had an amazing cucumber harvest, most is canned for winter, so we have pickle for a couple of years. The cucumber season is not over, but it's heading towards the end now.
Eggplants are a gamble each year. What we usually get is low quality, not as tasty as the one you buy from the farmers market. Those are brought from south, where the soil is more sandy. This year however is different as the eggplants we got were very delicious. Maybe the seeds, the type is different.
Celery is looking good as well, ready to be harvested.
This is a huge squash and its not alone, there are several of this size.
A huge pumpkin which will be delicious once the cold kicks in, but not before.
Hazelnuts are getting ready. In two months I think it's harvest time.
Basil is ready to be dried for winter.
Beetroots are huge this year. These are also a gamble each year, but looks like this year is a winner.
Onions are already harvested and drying. This is the yellow one, but we have white and red ones as well.
And these are my dirty rubber boots as it was raining in the afternoon and the asphalt in the garden is soft 😂
So what would you pick from here?

wow you do have a lot in your garden, thanks for sharing.
Thank you!
Waooooooo Erika, would choose everything you are growing to bring to the table, I did not know the hazelnut plant, it is very cute, and regarding the skin of peppers, and chili peppers the skin I take off, I rub them a little, on iron (kitchen) and when they are, that is, the golden skin I put them hot from the iron to a plastic bag, I close it for about 10 minutes, after that time the skin comes out that indigests us, with my hands, easily, and thus have better digestion.
The twin tomatoes are a sight to behold, I imagine them served sliced in a raw salad with cucumber, red onion, and lettuce yum, yum. Beets are giants, they must be very sweet
Here I am growing flowers, with this weather here it is not easy for vegetables.
Warm and sunny hugs to you, from this my Caribbean...🌺🌞😎🥥
I know that technique but honestly, it's time consuming, so I'd rather opt for a different type or not eat pepper. That salad you mentioned is regular on our table. We eat it almost every day.
You have a different climate, so no wonder you grow different things. We can't grow many things you have there, so ... life is like that.
Thank you for the hug, sending one back to you and have a nice, sunny day 🌷🍹
Erika, greetings to you, as you express it, this climate gives us to grow other things, such as coconut, avocado, and tomatoes too, but they are different, it is not so common to eat raw salad here, but at my house, I do it daily...
My flowers are thriving, today I posted my pending pots to be sown in my back garden...
I hug you back with a lot of affection, friend, really life reminds us what we lose and also what we gain...
Kisses for you.🌺😎🌴

Cool garden - wow. Such healthy looking basil too. That beetroot is incredible - wild! Growing stuff is just plain awesome! Thanks a bunch for sharing.
This phase is awesome, but still, there's a lot of work till you get here :)
I wish I can have a hold on those beetroots. It's too expensive here. But let me ask, after harvesting all these fruits am seeing, are you going to sell other ones apart from tomatoes?
Cooked beet is not cheap here either. To answer your question, we don't sell any of these as it's for the family and some of the friends.
How nice to have so many things in your garden, that's a dream for me. How nice to take vegetables grown by yourself and bring them to our kitchen fresh.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful garden with us @erikah ✨

It is nice to have them indeed as you know what you're eating, but it's hard work as well.
It's a hard thing to do, my friend, I understand, but it fills you with satisfaction. God bless that garden and may it continue to be very prosperous @erikah 💕

You have a beautiful garden Erikah, those tomatoes are looking really good and healthy. I always say if the pepper is small, it will be hot like hell. Small pepper means spicy :D :D
I just saw mipiano's post and now I agree with this one, I am amazed. I would like so much to do this kind of gardening activities, but at the moment life doesn't allow me to do it; at least I can admire what others do, like you for example who today show us the result of this work that surely requires a lot of discipline for the results to be amazing. I congratulate and admire you friend, I know you will take advantage of the time left in August to the maximum...
