Coffee and photos -Figuras Anónimas- [ENG/ESP]

Hello Hive!

I'm back once again. My time has been very limited because I'm working as a freelance photo editor for clients and other photographers, and leaving photography for my personal projects only, so I'm no taking photos as often as I want to.

Without further ado, let's jump in today's post: Venus, by Figuras Anónimas.

Estoy de vuelta una vez más. Mi tiempo ha estado muy limitado porque estoy trabajando como editor fotográfico freelance para clientes y otros fotógrafos, y dejando la fotografía sólo para mis proyectos personales, así que no estoy haciendo fotos tan a menudo como quisiera.

Sin más dilación, vamos con el post de hoy: Venus, de Figuras Anónimas.

Venus wrote me on Instagram asking is she could be part of the project because she loved the concept and was a fan of my photography.

We scheduled a photoshoot and meet a few days later in her apartment. I really liked her energy and attitude during the whole session, always attentive to follow my instructions in detail and to give her best.

We started the session in the living room next to a window that let in a nice white light.

Venus me escribió en Instagram preguntando si podía formar parte del proyecto porque le encantaba el concepto y era fan de mi fotografía.

Programamos una sesión de fotos y nos reunimos unos días más tarde en su apartamento.Me gustó mucho su energía y comportamiento durante toda la sesión, siempre atenta a seguir mis instrucciones con mucho detalle y a dar lo mejor de sí.

Comenzamos la sesión en la sala al lado de una ventana que dejaba entrar una linda luz blanca.

We moved to the next room with a window: the master bedroom. The bed sheets had a mix of shades that were out of the color palette, but I thought that was cute so I decided to use it for several photographs.

One element that I really liked and decided to add as a comical detail was a cushion/pillow in the shape of a smiley face: My sense of humor thought it was funny to use a face to create anonymity.

And, as I always do, I played a bit with my model's reflection using the main mirror.

Nos movimos a la siguiente habitación con ventana: el cuarto principal. Las sábanas de la cama tenían una mezcla de tonos que se salían de la paleta de colores, pero eso me pareció muy lindo así que decidí utilizarla para varias fotografías.

Un elemento que me gustó mucho y que decidí agregar como detalle cómico fue un cojín/almohada con forma de carita sonriente: A mi sentido del humor le parecía gracioso utilizar una cara para crear anonimato.

Y, como siempre hago, jugué un poco con el reflejo de mi modelo utilizando el espejo principal.

When I shoot I always like to try different angles and framing, because I feel they give variety to the sessions and help me learn a little more about what works in what situation when shooting.

For example, the low angle makes the model look bigger and more imposing, and the detail shots bring you closer to the skin and the moment of the session and are a little more intimate.

An element that I rarely use, but that I also like is the total blur of the model, I feel they create a sense of mystery and help create anonymity regardless of the model's position.

Cuando hago fotos me gusta siempre probar diferentes ángulos y encuadres, porque siento que le dan variedad a las sesiones y me ayudan a aprender un poco más sobre qué sirve en qué situación a la hora de fotografiar.

Por ejemplo, el contrapicado hace que la modelo se vea más grande e imponente, y los planos de detalles te acercan más a la piel y al momento de la sesión y son un poco más íntimos.

Un elemento que uso poco, pero que también me gusta es el desenfoque total de la modelo, siento que crean una sensación de misterio y ayudan a crear anonimato sin importar la posición de la modelo.

When I started the Figuras Anónimas project I "imposed" on myself the silly rule of not taking black and white photos, because I thought it was "the easy path" and something that a lot of people do. Then I thought it through and realized how silly my thinking was, and that I was simply limiting myself, so I took that off and, whenever I saw it was going to work, I took a black and white photo.

The session ended with that black and white photo, but Venus had other plans: she asked me if I wanted coffee. Anyone who knows me knows I'm a coffee lover, so I didn't refuse.

A few minutes later she arrived with 2 cups of coffee, and I thought it was such a nice moment that I decided to take one more photo including her cup. I liked the result and the beautiful light that was falling on her skin, so I took two more in the same place.

Cuando comencé el proyecto de Figuras Anónimas me "impuse" la tonta regla de no hacer fotos en blanco y negro, porque consideraba que era "la vía fácil" y algo que mucha gente hace. Luego lo pensé bien y me di cuenta lo tonto que era mi pensamiento, y que simplemente me estaba limitando, así que me quité eso y, cada vez que veía que iba a funcionar, hacía una foto en blanco y negro.

La sesión finalizó con esa foto en blanco y negro, pero Venus tenía otros planes: me preguntó si quería café. Quién me conoce sabe que soy amante del café, así que no me negué.

Unos minutos después ella llegó con 2 tazas de café, y me pareció un momento tan bonito que decidí hacer una foto más incluyendo su taza. Me gustó el resultado y la luz bonita que caía sobre su piel, así que luego hice dos más en ese mismo sitio.
