Before I switched to listening to gospel music, I had one problem with Gospel songs, it's as if most gospel artists think since their songs are rendered unto God, they could just do it anyhow and it would be approved.
You know anything that has the name of God in it, people usually have respect for it, so they use that privilege to sing anyhow they want and expect that it affects lives. I am not trying to criticize anyone but a lot of gospel songs then were not just making sense to me at all. Instead of edifying me, they often end up messing my mood up.
So, I didn't have a single gospel song in my phone. But in the year 2019, I stumbled upon a gospel song titled "Imela." Gosh, that song was wonderful. I enjoyed it so much that I put it on replay throughout that day.
Subsequently, I got used to it and needed more of something similar, so I decided to find the artist who sang the song and got more of his song and they gave me exactly what I wanted.
That was how my love for Nathaniel Bassey started. Little by little, my playlist became full of his songs.
Nathaniel Bassey was born in the year 1981, he is not just a singer but also a pastor of The Oasis Lagos. He is married with two children.
Nathaniel Bassey's music pattern is one of a kind, being a talented trumpeter makes it even more glorious. Most times I don't feel the lyrics as much as I feel the sound coming from the trumpet he blows. There is this unique grace and fire that flows with it.
Although he is gifted in music, he doesn't allow that reality to limit his career; he practices hard and strives always for excellence. Those of you who have listened to his songs before will bear witness to this.
I was listening to one piece of advice he was giving to young music ministers recently, he said, "Having the gift is not enough, let your gifts be backed with excellence." He then went further to talk about how hard he practices every song he sings and how he trains his voice.
Unfortunately, many won't listen to this, especially young musicians, they want to trend but they don't want to pay the price to give the best.
Some people believe that just because they are gospel singers, they don't need to practice hard and strive for excellence. They believe there's a grace that will automatically do everything.
The excellence and hard work in the life of Nathaniel Bassey is what makes me love him. He is my favorite artist so far. If you are the music type and have stumbled upon his songs before, you will attest that he knows what he is doing.
Everything about his life is one of a kind, he ensures that whatever he does, he does it well. From his instrumentals down to his lyrics are excellent. His songs are not songs you listen to and do not get edified.
This is one musician I can't get tired of talking about, his life and career are a message to my life personally. I can't tell who he is outside the stage but I believe that his music projects his life.
His lifestyle inspires me to always go for excellence, gifts are good, and knowledge is good but it's not enough if it is not excellence. if all celebrities would be like him, the i bet our world would have been a better place because they would be modeled the right way.
I have this great desire to meet him in person someday, my joy will know no bounds if that wish to pass.
Please vote for the Ecency Proposal.
