Be Kind To Your Environment

Kindness is a very broad topic, I didn't realize it touches every sphere of life until Dreemport started this wonderful collaboration with the kindness community.

The world is a living thing, just as we all need maintenance to continue to function well and to live long, the world also needs maintenance to continue to live.

It's so pathetic how most people don't see this as a necessity, they only care about what they can obtain from their environments and don't bother about what befalls the environment afterward.

There is so much pressure exerted on the environment in our day, that you can talk about deforestation, bush burning, improper refuse disposal, and so on. Our environments are suffering and they are gradually wearing away. Just imagine the climatic change of this year, the kind of heat we are experiencing generally in the world is a sign that our world is gradually wearing away.

Every little thing we do whether as individuals or cooperatively tends to affect the environment either positively or negatively. Some people may say "Oh, I know about this thing but even if I do the right thing, it won't count." No! It will, it will surely count, your lifestyle could be a message to someone and he or she might soon cultivate that habit too.

It's high time we start showing our environment kindness, if not for anything but for future generations. In any way we can, we can contribute positively towards ensuring that our environment is safe.

We can be consistent in ensuring that our environments look clean by disposing of our refuse properly. These days, I even expect burning activities to be less because almost everything now can be recycled. Instead of disturbing the atmosphere with smoke, we can gather these things and take them to places where they can be recycled.

I know it may sound stressful but we are talking about kindness here, it's all about sacrifice. Our world is not a stone or an iron, our activities affect it, if by actions like this, we can save it, then I think it's not too much to ask for. And If we must burn our refuses, then we should do it properly

Another way to be kind to our environment is by replacing trees that we fall with young ones. Some of our environments are too exposed, all the trees are gone, replaced by houses.

Trees are very important in the environment, they prevent erosion, act as windbreaks, and also help ensure that we get enough ventilation. If you won't do it for yourself, do it for those to come.

Another way we can be kind to our environment is by enlightening the public on the importance of keeping the environment clean and also teaching them how to go about it.

For This Week's Kindness exercise, I lent my neighbor who is still fixing his apartment some tools to work. It was on Wednesday morning, I overheard him asking for a small hoe and jerrican.

I knew he was not going to get it from anyone around the neighborhood so I decided to give him ours.

He was so happy that I helped him, he later came back and asked for a knife, and I also gave him. In the evening when he was done with the work, he brought my tools back and thanked me. I was so happy I was of help to him.
