Exclusive Club
I usually don't take my legs where I don't believe am wanted, or needed. It is actually the easiest thing in the book to simply excuse myself and ignore whatver it is that seems to take the desired attention at that moment. I learned to have disdain for things I can't have as a practice, so I don't get envious instead. From the outside looking in, there are some exclusive events that might be nice to experience, but i choose to ignore due to the strict requirements for access.
Yet on the inside it does feel somewhat special to be part of something exclusive. Knowing that there are not many people doing what we do is a strange but noteworthy flex that we pride ourselves on. Sometimes we have situations where we just find ourselves fortunate to be in this kind of situations, but oftentimes it is our personal efforts and intentions that puts us in this category.
Take for instance the top stakeholders here on Hive. The rest of us can only wish but those who really drive the community vision had the intentions to do so right from the get go, and they took action. While exclusivity does sound kind of elitist, when we have people intentionally making themselves better and inevitably find themselves amongst the ranking category. Also worth noting is that most ordinary folks start off at the same entry point. We all have what it takes to create exclusivity for ourselves if we so desire.
I still have disdain for things I can't have. But for things I believe I should be a part of, I don't mind wishing and working to be part of a selected few.
