Crypto Clampdown: Righteous Verdict
Everyone seems to have noticed that the regulatory clampdown on the crypto space has heightened over the last year or so. Kids gloves are off the table now, and it is on to render the space as powerless as possible. There are several restrictions being imposed on the space, and several companies that dealt previously with crypto have been scared off with the threat of sanctions and lawsuits. These days it takes quite a bit of bravery for a large company to openly associate with crypto as it would mean exposing themselves to a ton of regulatory scrutiny.
The doom and gloom picture certainly continues down the lane, as the crypto space for now is doing little with regards to fighting back. There are of course several cases in court between regulators and crypto, but it certainly doesn't inspire much confidence to know that the majority of these cases I know of have been projects in our space dragged by regulators, and not the other way round. As we all know, it is a lot more difficult to defend an accusation than it is to accuse, especially when the accuser calls most of the shots.
Verdicts will be rolled out more over the coming years and some may have quite an impact on the space. One thing for sure though is that if we lose lawsuit after lawsuit it won't play too well for the entire space. Crypto will always find a way, but it will become a lot more isolated and mainstream adoption is what we all want. At this point am just trying to take solace in the fact that that continued attacks on our space should prompt even more innovation, as well as discourage many bad actors who actually contribute to negative perception of the space.
Conclusion
The use of Blockchain technology certainly isn't a criminal enterprise that we should be afraid of associating with. The clampdown is highly unfair and unnecessary but rather than cry over it I reckon the space will just keep moving on and try to prove just how much value is being sat on. As for the clampdown, you have to believe that a handful of them will go our way, especially those lacking weight and credibility or without merit. We keep watching the outcome regardless, convinced that Blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies have a future in the traditional space
I think the value created from this space will eventually become self-evident and dwarf out the accusations made about how wrong the crypto space is or operates. The baseless accusations will be much easier to win but every battle will probably left a scar in terms of how people perceive the space.
