A Metaverse of Value
Big tech us investing more and more into our virtual experiences. For some reason such experiences are now standing in equal measure or even superior to the actual experiences we face in reality. A lot of us who are absorbed in our digital universe use it for all the wrong reasons. We can spend countlless hours almost to the detriment of our physical realities while extracting little by way of benefits from investing so much time in the virtual World.
Virtual reality isn't going away anytime soon and the experiences will only get more integrated with our daily lives. The main thing here is that it can either be a distraction or an enhancer of our experineces. For most of us it is the former. The actual goal in reality should be to extract as much value as we poossibly can from our virtual experiences. By value I mean the virtual experiences must provide incentives and impact to our actual realities. Postitve impacts at that. If it impacts negatively then it is a waste of time.
Gaming is one of the major focuses on virtual reality experiences. That's because in virtual games we get to create our own Worlds where we can easily escape into, have fun and become the focal point of our experineces. There is nothing wrong with gaming on its own, other than the tendency to get addictive and spend countless hours to our detriment. I would rather avoid such a distraction all together than engage in something that encourages further waste of my time. Yet crypto has done something that is quite noteworthy for gaming, and that's the unveiling of mainstream potential.
Crypto gaming as a sector has massive potential. I think other than finance the sector with the biggest mainstream potential for crypto comes from gaming. Even in its developmental stages we have seen quite a few apps already that have got a bit of mainstream attention. On the Hive chain Splinterlands has made a lot of buzz and has really got us talking about the possibilities. Sure things may have slowed down a bit but you get the feeling that the potential is still there to spike interest. We also have the talk of NFTs and what they could do for the sector in terms of digital identity and gaming.
The difference between spending time on mainstream and crypto gaming is the actual value it may produce in the real World and how it potentially makes us either better or worse off. Whatever virtual universe we're creating for ourselves, it is noteworthy that we demand and derive value from it for the time, effort and energy we invest in.
