HAVE YOU A DEPENDABLE FRIEND?

Often we see people who abhor having someone they can call a friend and this happens for a reason known to them. So many may decide to live an isolated life just to run away from troubles which they feel can emanate from having a friend. They see everyone that comes close to them in the name of a friend as a scavenger hunt and as such, they tend to behave like an island.
Numerous times people have gone through a lot of terrible experiences because of friends. A lady once told me I don’t have friends and I asked why? She said I do not feel safe with them and there is the prevalent occurrence of jealousy and envy all the time.
Nonetheless, I respect people's belief systems but what I don’t do is allow them to becloud my imagination.
I am a witness and a beneficiary of having good friends. In Dec 2016 our company went bankrupt because of mismanagement of funds so we the workers were asked to go home. I had to join a Ponzi scheme thinking it was a way out but it failed and my money disappeared.That month my landlord slapped me for nonpayment of the electricity bill which I did pay but according to him was small. Here in my country, the estimated bill is the order of the day in many parts. During this episode, my neighbour who is my friend intervened by calling me straight to his house. He asked some questions about what happened and I explained it to him. He said hope you know your rent in that house will expire this month and asked if I was planning to stay there because this horrible event will repeat itself. He said to make findings of a new apartment and get back to me which I accomplished. Behold asked how much I have, I told him nothing as the Ponzi scheme has ripped off the little in my possession. You won’t believe what he said, go I will help you sort it out. My friend transferred 250 dollars equivalent to 150000 Nigerian currency with no interest rate attached to it. A friend bailed me out and never allowed my pains to linger for long.

Similarly, witnessed and was helped by another friend sometime in 2017 when I had my second job. Her name is Mrs Thelma. She is jovial wonderful and down to earth. We resumed work together and became friends too. As our friendship continue to flourish day by day it became so strong and never to be broken. However, we both had our shortcomings but we never allowed it to last more than a day. This lady liberated me from paying some huge amount of money to her community. According to the community I am not an indigene so I do not have the right to work there for that should pay 2000 dollars unknowing to me that her husband was then the youth president of the community. So she presided over my case by cancelling all they demanded from me at that time. What a woman, that’s how I got freed.

I have had wonderful good friends.If I continue, the list is endless.
Let me further define who a dependable friend is: a person who is steady, reliable and trustworthy. You can also say it’s a person you can count on.
Advantages of having dependable friends.
1)They are happiness proponents and decrease your stress.
2)They enhance self-confidence and self-worth.
3)They encourage you to live a healthy lifestyle.
4)They bring loneliness and isolation to a stop.
5)They are approachable
6)They are a source of networking.
7)They assist you in decision making.
I am sure looking at the above advantages, today a lot of us will want to change a course of action by looking forward to having dependable friends around us if we don't have one.
