A special, hectic and cheerful birthday, I witnessed!!!

I am Mnkong Emmanuel Saah resident in Bamenda, the north west region of Cameroon. And i would like to share a birthday event I witnessed, with friends of this community space. This birthday celebration took place yesterday 15th, 2024. This birthday celebration was held at a venue known as "Man Planet". Man Planet is an event center located at the old council junction, Ntarikon Mankon in Bamenda, in the north west region of Cameroon. Before I proceed permit me talk a little bit about birthday.

A birthday is the anniversary of the birth of a person or figuratively of an institution. Birthdays of people are celebrated in numerous cultures, often with birthday gifts, birthday cards, a birthday party , or a rite of passage.
Birthday cakes are commonplace in birthday celebrations. Some cakes are adorned with candles and a topper indicating the recipient's age. Many religions celebrate the birth of their founders or religious figures with special holidays.( E.g Christmas, Krishna etc )
There is a distinction between birthday and birth date ( also known as date of birth) : the former, except for Feb 29, occurs each year ( e.g January 15 ), while the latter is the complete date when the person was born ( e.g January 1945.

Birthdays are the best days. From birthday phone calls, to cake and presents. Nothing makes anyone feels more special getting a little birthday Love and attention. Thus, during birthday people send best wishes to the people celebrating the birthday, for example; " Happy birthday, as you get older may you be like fresh palm wine.
Your birthday is the beginning of your own personal new year. Your first birthday was a beginning and each new birthday is a chance to begin again, to start over, to take a new grip on life.

I now draw your attention to the birthday party I attended, celebrating the life of a mother, grand mother and great grandmother. The occasion took place at the old council junction Ntarikon Mankon Bamenda of the north west region, Cameroon. The celebrant celebrated her 80th birthday, or 80th Anniversary with lots of love and cheerfulness full of energy in an atmosphere of splendor. This occasion brought family members, friends, and loved ones from far and near that came to celebrate with a lovely mother. It was such a trilling event at the event center. There were drinks and enough food for the mammoth crowd that turned up to celebrate this great event. The Merry making celebrated the life of a mother who at 80, looks pretty younger and full of energy. She has not only seen and spend many years on earth but she is a living legacy worth it. I watched with great delight how her numerous children, grand children and great grand children ushered her to the podium, the proud mother of many.
Among many activities that took place , one of them that caught my attention was a sketch presented by the grand children depicting the life of a great mother demonstrating lots of moral values she has and is still inculcating in to the line of children. What picked my attention as demonstrated by one of the grand daughters, was the part where she mimicked the grandmother. In this she said grandmother always advices them to stay away from trouble and also be morally upright because God watches everything we do here on earth. In her words she will always say "God has a camera" that he uses to watch whatever we do here on earth. In fact God has a camera focused on everyone, and we should be mindful of what we do here on earth. Apart from this sketch, I also got moved by the audio note played from one of the the grand children overseas who sang birthday song to the grandmother, and wished her well.There was also the pupping of the champagne, and shared to the participants. There was also the presentation of gifts to the celebrant. And the sharing of the birthday cake, drinks and food, presents of buckets to everyone present at the event. At the end of the day people went home so joyous and happy. I was so happy also because of a mystery and miracle that happened to me there. I went there also to present a gift as a sign of love and care but the celebrate instead gave me a financial present to my astonishment. In fact the day was great and so successful.
