Ornamental Drive in the New Forest, Hampshire, UK.
The sun was shining, so we decided to take a drive down the Ornamental Drive in the New Forest, Hampshire, UK. It was a nice day for a stroll, though, so after finding a parking spot, we set off on a circular walk through the forest.
As we made our way along the trail, the trees towering above us, we came across a little wooden bridge that crossed over a little brook.
The path wound its way through the forest. Pockets of sunlight filtered through the trees.
Someone had done a bit of bushcrafting. It was quite an impressive den.
I noticed that some of the trees were covered in lovely green moss. It looked like a soft, green blanket wrapping around the tree trunks.
Considering how much rain we've had recently, it's surprising that I only spotted a few fungi popping up in the forest.
After an hour's walk, we emerged from the forest and walked across the road to pick up the trail, so we could get back to the starting point of our walk. Thankfully, the sun stayed out until we got back home.
Thanks for sharing this lovely sojourn. I just picked up a book for Jamie from the library on a guy photographing goshawks in the NF over COVID. Keen to read myself.
When I'm away from Derbyshire, I do miss my forest/wood walks, so loved this.
Wow! The forest is just lovely and very peaceful. The atmosphere is just amazing; those old trees and lots of fungi look great. So lucky to have such a nice forest for a short stroll with nature.
What a beautiful forest. Some trees gave me umbrella vibe, they looked like an umbrella. Some trees are still green, maybe they are evergreen trees...Lovely forest for a nice walk. My dog would have loved this forest...
The trees have still yet to get their autumn colours, but yes, some will be evergreen. Walking in forests are my favourite as well as by the sea.
