Butterfly and Birds ....

Walking around one of our local nature reserves, we spotted a male orange tip butterfly. The female isn't as striking as they have black tips on their wings, not orange. It can be quite frustrating at times as they are very difficult to photograph. Unfortunately, they don't stop still for very long, choosing to flit from flower to flower. I must admit there are times I've just given up!

Can birds stand on water? There are a few wooden poles in the water, and the birds seem to love them. They are always standing on them. I suppose it saves them swimming to land to have a little snooze.

It's not very often you see a bonded pair of swans on the nest. They were each adding bits of twigs to build up their nest and trying to turn their eggs over at the same time. It would have been so much easier if one had got off the nest!

A couple of goldfinches on the bird feeder. They have a lovely red face, a black cap and black around their eyes.

Some lovely reflections on the lake. It was like summer this morning, but it's the UK, so predictably, it didn't last.
