A Walk in the Park with Plenty of Birds

The snow has all gone, and the sun was out today as we had a walk around the local park. The Canada geese seemed to be enjoying the sunshine.

The heron was hiding in the reeds looking for its dinner. I recently found out a funny fact about the heron. Apparently, they are sometimes called 'shitepokes' because of their ability to crap when taking off into the air after being disturbed. Source I presume it's so they can get away quickly.

There was a wren on the floor. They are cute little birds that look for food in leaves on the ground.

As we slowly creep into spring, the purple crocuses add a nice splash of colour.

I'm no fungi expert, but my phone is telling me this is wood or jelly ear fungi. Whatever it is, weirdly, they do appear very ear-like.

Everyone loves the little robin redbreast. They are very photogenic. It's always best to take a bit of bird food with you, so hopefully, you will be able to get a few shots of the robin in return.

We've had snow, rain, frost, winds and a bit of sun. We will see what's next on the agenda, weather wise.

One of the best things about going for a walk in large parks is being able to see different types of birds, that’s amazing and even more being able to capture that charm

No, the heron just wants to leave a message for whoever made them leave the dinner table 😂
