A Trip To Lyme Regis, Dorset, UK
Yesterday, we visited Lyme Regis, which is a lovely
seaside resort in Dorset, UK, with shingle and sandy beaches, and a beautiful harbour and surrounding scenery.
There were lots of water sports to participate in, but it was a no from me, but you could also hunt for fossils on some of the beaches instead.
This tower is part of the underground water treatment plant situated on the seafront. It was quite impressive.
The Guildhall is where the council meetings are held. On the plaque it states:
"The Guildhall has stood here since Elizabethian Times.
Sir George Somers, discoverer of Bermuda, was Mayor and MP for Lyme Regis in 1604. He Died in Bermuda in 1610".
"This plaque was unveiled by HRH Princess Alexandra on 8th May, 1984."
In 1823, Mary Anning, palaeontologist was the first person to find a complete skeleton of a Plesiosaurus.
Unfortunately, at the time, the male scientists didn't like to credit her with her finds. What sensitive egos they had! Source
I love the lamp lights. I presume they were designed after the ammonite shells that have been found in Lyme Regis.
There was a massive anchor on the sea front that was donated to the area by Portland Naval Base.
Overall, it was a lovely little town with lots of history, plenty of walks and cafes and restaurants to choose from, an arcade, and several gift shops. It was just right for a day trip. We left the pooch digging yet another hole ...

A little town but with a lot of beautiful thing to see. I love the seaside part. I'd love to just watch on the side while watching those people enjoying the water sports available in there.
Me too. It's quite relaxing to people watch.
