A Bimble Around Clumber Park, Nottinghamshire, UK
We are regular visitors to Clumber Park, a country estate in Nottinghamshire, UK that was originally owned by the Duke of Newcastle and then bought by the National Trust. It costs £5 entrance fee but it is free if you are a National Trust member. You then have 3,800 acres to explore!
On the estate, there is a car park, discovery centre (museum), cycle hire that is accessible to all, a restaurant, a shop, a pet friendly cafe called Central Barks, a lake, a walled kitchen garden, church etc and the most important of all ...toilets!
According to the National Trust website, The Chapel of St Mary the Virgin was built for the 7th Duke of Newcastle from 1886-89. Over the lake, it looks pretty impressive with its gothic style and tall spire.
We walked around the large lake that is home to many swans and geese. They are quite well fed by the visitors.
In autumn, the holly bush has lots of lovely red berries on it that always reminds me of Christmas.
We used to visit Clumber Park as children to search for chestnuts. They were never very big but as kids it kept us occupied!
The walk is nice and flat with places to have picnics in the summer. If you are a bit of a tree hugger there's lots of different trees to look at, if you have a woodland walk.
We spotted an interesting looking caterpillar. We think it might be a pale tussock. I don't think I've ever seen one before, so not sure.
The Walled Kitchen Garden is quite large with lots of posters informing visitors about the produce the gardeners grow.
After walking around for a couple of hours, we ended our walk with a lovely cup of coffee in the cafe.

My pleasure. 😊
It's always interesting going to all these different NT properties. They're currently doing an autumn promotion with free entry, so making the most of that as I got English Heritage membership only
Oh that's good! It can get a bit expensive so it's nice to know people are getting a few freebies. 🙂
