Continuing my journey down my memory lane... 😁😁😁
2022 Ipoh - Kuala Perlis - Taiping - Cameron Highlands kickstarted... uhm, not really kickstarted, lol, coz it has already ended physically... but then well, virtually I am kickstarting it again by re-visiting the places through my photos and words... OK, let's go right into the road trip...
Leaving Kuala Lumpur early in the morning on a Saturday back in December... First place was Ipoh... Ipoh is famous with Bean Sprouts Chicken (or in Cantonese it's called as "nga choi gai") , Ipoh White Coffee, "Gai Si Hor Fun" in Cantonese which means shredded chicken with hor fun noodles, etc... Must have these food if you are visiting Ipoh, else it's like you have not visited Ipoh...
And here we were at Restoran Onn Kee (Tauge Ayam) enjoying our lunch... Yummilicious "nga choi gai" and "gai si hor fun". And to our surprise, the "char siew" (roasted pork) was really tasty. If I ever revisit the restaurant again, I am gonna have this char siew again... It's tender, juicy and sweet...
There're many restaurants here and all of them were crowded with people, so if you would like to get a table fast and easy, it's better to come slightly earlier before lunch hour. Maybe by 12noon. Or you can even come by 11am to have brunch. Coming here with friends and family will be better coz you can order more varieties of the food and you can share. If you are alone, then it's a bit difficult. Either you go with the chicken rice or the noodle. Small eater won't be able to finish both and not to forget there's the char siew and meat ball and fish ball. If you are really alone, then maybe you will have to drop by a few times to try out each of the food.
Not easy to get parking space at this area too during lunch time. We parked slightly further away and walked some distance to the restaurant. There's lots of snack shops here too... Kaya Puff, Hiong Peah (I really love this. It's a pastry with sticky maltose paste filling), Peanut Candy, Egg Tarts, Salted Chicken ("Yim Gok Gai" in Cantonese), etc... So these snacks are actually Ipoh famous and regular souvenirs. And maybe by now you would have noticed that I have mentioned a few of the food and snacks in Cantonese... Yup, Cantonese is the main Chinese dialect used here in Ipoh.
Ok, I have to stop here now coz this is making me hungry 🤣... And at this time at night (almost 11pm now) I shouldn't be eating anything... I should be preparing myself and calling it a day instead... So, till next time...
