Tell Me a Story: Breakfast for the King
Long ago, in a magical time of Kings and Kingdoms, the story of a young nobleman was born to whom destiny had a horrifying surprise in store. One day, his parents, the kings, went out to walk the nearby forest paths that surrounded the kingdom. What they never imagined was that enemies of the kingdom were hiding in the dense forest and ambushed them. No one could stop that tragedy. At this moment, the young prince received the worst news of his life, he lost everything he loved, including his brother who was in his mother's womb. At the young age of 12, this young prince had to take on a great challenge by being crowned King, an event he thought would happen in the future.
That day marked the heart of this boy, bringing a great responsibility on his shoulders. A destiny he did not want, he felt insecure and sad, he was not prepared to assume such a great responsibility, which brought frustration upon his soul and he became an angry man who would not let anyone get close to him. The years passed and his reign grew stronger, the Young King ruled with harshness, although he showed compassion to his people and was loved by them, the truth is that this King only showed kindness at certain times, however, in his palace the reality was that he was hated by everyone in his palace, no one could stand to be near him mainly when he had to eat because he threw the food on the floor, he treated his employees like animals.
The King's advisor, an old man who had been in the service of the kingdom since his youth, knew his Kings perfectly well, the most important thing was that he had seen closely how year after year the Young King was submerged in the Pain of his soul, feeling worried about him, he tried to convince the King to change his employees and bring new personnel to the kingdom, since most of them in his palace were old people who deserved to rest. After a long conciliatory talk, the King gave the order and let the counselor take care of the new staff. What the young King did not imagine was that this difficult decision would be the beginning of a new stage in his life.

The old counselor handed out invitations to hire the best people to serve the king. From all over the kingdom he chose the best and sent a special invitation to each person; it was an honor to serve the king. One of those invitations came to a man who for many years prepared the banquets of the kings, he was the best cook in the kingdom; however, he was very sick and could not stand. To refuse the invitation was a lack of respect worthy of death. The invitation arrived at the house and was received by the man's daughter, a young woman who was filled with fear when she read the details of the letter. She knew that her father would not be able to travel and serve in the palace kitchen. The brave woman decided to hide the truth from her parents and without thinking about what could happen, she forged her father's signature and marched straight to the palace carrying with him a cardboard box with some kitchen implements.

The cunning plan seemed perfect, it might work except for one small problem, and that was that the brave young woman could not cook. She lived with the best cook, her interest was never in cooking, she wanted to sing and compose songs, something she did very well. When she arrived at the palace, the previous staff received them to give them instructions and then leave the palace. Among so many things they described the terrible personality of the King and his demands, a detail that filled them with fear: the slightest mistake would be punished.
Just at that moment, the girl remembered that she didn't know how to cook, she was sure she would get her head cut off. That night she could not sleep, she checked over and over again her father's recipe book, looking for an easy recipe to start with, but her father was very demanding and everything was perfectly written with measurements and portions. The girl was very scared, she knew that at dawn she would be in charge of the kitchen and most likely the King would punish her mercilessly.

After a long night of vigil thinking about how to solve her situation, she came to a conclusion that she would not give up, she had traveled from far away and her father needed to recover, so it was time to improvise a menu. Early in the morning she got up taking her cardboard box with utensils and cooking utensils; it was time to make her first dish. The palace kitchen was impeccable, all the storerooms were full of fresh vegetables and greens. The girl's mind was trying to figure out what to do until she looked at a carton box with chicken eggs and there was her first dish: scrambled eggs with bread.
After burning the eggs over and over again and giving up the anxiety of watching the clock, her first Breakfast for the King was ready at exactly the right time, it was the perfect moment for the Young King to meet her and make his first impression.

The King's fixed gaze towards that girl was noticed by all present; everyone was waiting expectantly for the King's answer. That simple breakfast of scrambled eggs with bread accompanied with fresh milk brought back sweet memories to the King of his childhood years, when his Mother and Father would sit at the table for breakfast, it was his favorite breakfast, one that he had neglected to try for years. A slight smile was his gesture as he ate his first bite; for a moment, after so many years, the Counselor could see him smile. While the girl almost fainted imagining she would be taken to the dungeon, the king looked at the girl with pleasure, she had done a good job.
From that day on, every morning the King enjoyed a rich breakfast of scrambled eggs with bread and fresh milk, a delight. The girl put a lot of effort into her cooking. After each recipe, the King smiled something that amazed those present; however, he did not mention anything about it. The counselor noticed that since the change the King was less tense, he stopped shouting at his employees. An important detail was that he ate everything the girl prepared and smiled something that caught the attention of Mr. Counselor who decided to talk to the women.

The Lord Counselor interviewed the woman and she confessed to him the truth about her father and that when The Intense Cold arrived her stay in the palace would end because her father could take her place in the kitchen. The old man was convinced that he could not let the young woman go. The king was very calm with her presence, the change of environment was good for him; letting the girl go would be the worst mistake. He proposed to travel before the arrival of the Intense Cold to talk to the parents of the Woman and convince the father to let the Woman stay in the palace this way the King would be calm at the same time he could continue interacting with the Woman, leave behind those years of pain, only she knew how to prepare that Scrambled Egg Breakfast that brighten up the King's mornings and kept a pleasant atmosphere in the palace.

Little by little time passed, and the young King's heart grew closer to the girl, without realizing it. He was leaving behind the pain of those years; his heart found Consolation. Enjoying the little details of life, like enjoying his favorite meal Scrambled Eggs with bread, was something he had forgotten. She had brought him closer to happiness and his heart was tender. His human side returned, empathy for his fellow man. The King was thinking of a way to show his apologies without mentioning words, since at that time the fact that a King would apologize was a sign of weakness, although sometimes actions speak louder than words, the King decided to change his attitude with people, an action that was sincere. The woman was happy to see the King smile, those months by his side were special, despite knowing that he had to pack his bags to leave and face his father and punishment.

The palace fields were covered with thick snow, and the intense cold of winter was felt in the palace. The woman's departure time was near, the moment of farewell was on her lips when the Lord Counselor arrived in surprise bringing answers to the woman and with her to her father, the Royal cook. The truth always comes out, though above all the woman's motives were enough to earn forgiveness, not only from her father, but from the Enamored King, who did not ignore the opportunity to confess love to the woman to keep her from leaving.
The Intense Cold did not stop the rhythm of destiny, what began with a breakfast of Scrambled Eggs with bread and fresh milk was the perfect base to console the heart of the King, that woman who left her father's house with only a cardboard box with kitchen utensils, without the slightest idea of how to cook proved that nothing was impossible.

The Young King and the Woman had a Happy Ending, a story that mixes a Cardboard Box, The Intense Cold and the main dish Scrambled Eggs.
