My daughter Eli is the oldest of my children and the only granddaughter my parents have. This week she was very animated and excited about the events leading up to her graduation ceremony, from the book signing that registered all of her classmates to the pictures to remember. My daughter inadvertently reminded me of the excitement I had when I celebrated my high school graduation. She helped me go back to a moment that I had kept and that I relived with great nostalgia, that achievement of the past that caused so much joy to my parents. When Eli celebrated her sixth grade graduation ceremony to enter a new stage of her studies, I remember telling her that I wanted to see her graduate from high school. I imagined that moment many times and each time I cried with emotion. These are things I kept to myself, because a mother also imagines how life would be when her children grow up. One morning you wake up, that day has arrived, a day that seemed far away, a day that announces that your child has grown up a lot and is ready to receive recognition for his academic achievement and begin a new stage in his life.
