AI is about to make a huge impact on energy demand. Over the next two years, datacenters will need 160% more power, and by 2027, 40% of current facilities might struggle to keep up. Gartner predicts that the energy needed for these AI-optimized servers will hit 500 terawatt-hours per year by 2027, about 2.6 times what we saw in 2023.
