Strange dimension

In the year 2322, a mysterious malfunction caused the starship in which my brother and I were traveling to crash on a remote planet. We perished on impact, but our consciousnesses were transferred to a strange dimension.

We found ourselves floating like spirits above our inert bodies in coffins, while our parents wept inconsolably. Suddenly, we were transported into a shadowy jungle of twisted branches that seemed to lurk in the gloom.

Walking along a path, we came to a bridge made of sharp blades that crossed an abyss of liquid fire. There our cybernetic pets, faithful canine companions with artificial intelligence, awaited us.

In an amazing twist, the machines came to life and spoke! One lifted my brother onto its back and transported him to the other side. The other addressed me in a metallic voice:

-How did you treat me in life?

Puzzled, I did not know how to answer. The canine sentenced coldly:

-Unworthy -and threw me unceremoniously into the fiery precipice. I fell into the voracious flames that licked my spiritual essence with indescribable pain. The scorching heat consumed me mercilessly.

I woke up drenched in sweat, panting, my heart pounding a mile a minute. Had it been just a dream vision? I didn't know, but that experience on the astral plane changed my perception forever.
