What is the most important thing that you are seeking to attain in 2025?

If there is anything or if there is one thing I have seemed to attain is financial freedom, being financially capable, and just so you know in the year 2024, If I can sit and make an estimated amount of what I saw or my total finances, I can boldly say that I hit five hundred thousand even though they didn't come in bulk but unfortunately, due to a few circumstances and health challenges I can do not have evidence to show for the thousands that I attained this year and when I think about it, I am so sad and hurt that my plans for such money did not materialize as I had expected.

So, this 2025, the most important thing that I am seeking to attain is financial freedom, the funny thing is I don't know how and when I can achieve this but, one thing I do know is that attaining this height is the most important thing on my agenda because it will help me solve so many things I have at the back of my mind and the projects I am planning to establish.

I know it's going to be hectic for me but I wouldn't mind, if it means becoming a jack of all trades to be able to attain this, then I wouldn't mind as I am prepared for whatever comes just be financially free, I think I have gotten to this phase of my life where I need to be getting settled financially to be able to attain a particular height in my life and to be able to freely and easily reach out to other pathway for more success.

Marriage is a universal tradition, yet its celebration reflects the unique values, customs, and traditions of each culture. What are the most significant traditions, customs, and practices that define wedding ceremonies in your culture? How do they embody your community's heritage and beliefs?

Wedding ceremonies in my culture have always been the exorbitant and loud type because the marital list given to the man who is coming to marry their daughter usually involves not only the paternal families, uncles, aunties, and communities but also extends into the maternal families especially maternal grandmother even though the list is usually argued by the grooms family and a certain deal is made, it still does not eradicate the fact that the list is usually lengthy and much.

This list has nothing to do with the lady's bride price as the price bride is usually a little token while I heard that some families get as little as twenty nairas, letting the groom and his family know that they were not selling off their daughters and if she is not treated well and right will be gotten back, but this does not mean that you would not get to buy all that the girls family, community (men, women, and youths) requires of them.

I believe that a lady whose father is still alive or has an uncle who is indeed a father figure to her has more leverage than a lady who has no father and has no good uncle who can stand in as a father because uncles wouldn't mind draining the pocket of the groom dry and empty out of greed and selfishness and could be so heartless to stress the life out of the lady and her soon to be husband.

Apart from that, one of the still invoking cultures that has never been left untouched or never changed is when the man impregnates the lady before coming to do the marital right, culture requires that the man buys goats depending on how long he has been married to the lady and how long she had been in his house giving births without the consent of her life.

The lady family sees it as an insult to impregnate their child without their consent or living with her for several years and letting her give birth to your children without getting their consent or approval of marriage and buying the number of goats required is seen as a form of appeasement to her parents and then to her extended family to beg them for forgiveness and you have to perform everything right given to you to perform before her parents and family members can give you their consent to continue with the marital process.

The dreading part is if the lady died as a result or in the process of giving birth or died while she was in your home but you weren't properly married to her, it is a culture that you would have to do the traditional right for and with her, like you would have done if she was alive, so, in essence, you would be getting married to a corpse or a dead woman.

That last part made me shiver. I either missed it or… what part of the Nigerian culture is this?

Most part of the Igbo tribe do that though. If he doesn't do that then she is not his wife and the children (if any) are not he's

Yes, that's true, I heard about that the Igbo's have a similar culture.

Even though the tradition is meant to send shivers down our spine, and maybe help us from indulging, many still do and we still have parents who are living with their wives and have yet to do the traditional rights of their wives.

Having financial freedom is truly important for everyone.

It's important to do the necessary things when you're supposed to in terms of marriage but some families take it too far to the point of picking who the lady will marry.

Yeah, most families especially those who are tribal bigots or those who think their daughter should be married to the already-made man.

Their children their choice

I think we all want and look for that financial freedom, it is often complicated, due to so many things that can happen, but it is good to never give up and continue working to achieve this goal.

They have very interesting marriage traditions. Thanks for participating my friend, greetings.

Yeah, you are right. Every human wants to get to that aspect of their lives where they are stable financially and don't have to think too hard and long about their next meal.

Thank you 😊

What a way to end this post. But even in the throes of grief there is that spark of faithfulness that is honorable about it as a demonstration of true love that transcends death, speaking as a Gothic styled gal. ❤️

Wow.. really, your culture demands that the man marry a dead woman just the way he would have married her when she is alive? Which part of culture in Nigeria is this? Really a new discovery

And then your goal...being financially stable is a dream come through for me

All the best my darling 😍

The last part is frightening indeed. Is it a tribal tredition or common all over the country?

Impregnation before marriage is a disgrace, I understand. However, the girl's consent is involved in the relationship, so why the groom has to pay for it. It's arguable, I guess. What if the boy refuse to marry after impregnating? It happens, after all, doesn’t it?

I don't know about other tribes, but I guess other tribes have their norms but this here is just my tradition.

Yeah, it happens and they may likely not do anything but if the girl dies in the process of giving birth to that child, he is going to pay dearly, and most times the family could go diabolical if he refuses to come do the necessary rites over their dead daughter.
