PhotoFeed Contest - Macro Photography - Stingless Bees

And today to start off the new year vibes I have this diligent stingless bee a kind of bee from Trigona genera. This might be Trigona sapiens or Trigona clypearis. Not like most bees that have a sting as a defensive system, these stingless bees will bite to defend themselves in case of danger. They also like to attack the nostril or ear holes when we try to disturb them.

They also have a black color body, unlike most bees which usually have a yellow base with some back stripes on their body. Their body is also way smaller that the regular bees. And because of its smaller size they usually produce a lot lesser amount of honey.

But because of that the honey from this Trigona bee is usually more expensive than regular honey. They have a little sour taste and are also a lot darker in color than regular honey.
