Why Chelsea Legend Lost Ivory Coast FA Elections
Chelsea Legend Didier Drogba at the back of being inducted into Premier league Hall of Firm lost his bid of becoming the President of Ivory Coast Football Association. Following the steps of fellow Cameroonian African Legend Samuel Eto, Drogba was favourite in clinching position due to his outstanding contribution to his country and football development in Africa. It is on record that the football association in Ivory cost was formed with the help of the Chelsea legend, but much to the amusement of football fans on social media, other experienced key players in the industry took the lead much ahead of Drogba.
Although the Chelsea Legend made various contributions which has brought sports development to the game of football in his home country, many home grown giants still believe faulted his relationship with other citizens and the body citing that he lacks credibility and experience required for the role of FA President.
the forst round which had a total of 131 votes saw Daillo, a business man and Vice President of Ivory Club Fad win the round with 59 votes, and another contestant Diabet, a fromer Vice pPresident of FIF came second with 50 votes while Drogba finished with just 21 votes.Drogba lost in both round of the election which saw Diallo, a current FIF executive member win the election by land slide victory.
Wow. I knew he was contesting but I didn't know he wasn't even elected. Most of them always want to go back to change something about their roots. We saw it with Samuel Eto'o Fils, George Weah and now Drogba. It's always a dirty tricks playing politics with those experienced in it. I hope his time would come one day...
@olawalium ..yeah, he sure wants an opportunity to do more in sports development. He has good intensions, I hope his time comes and come soon,
I really hope it comes too. They have often said that good people with good intentions hardly smell the seat. I hope his time comes sooner...when he can still effect those changes.
that could be true....my country Nigeria is a sad example
Absolutely...
Maybe, he couldn’t get elected because the football pitch and the Federation board and the presidency is not the same.
But,his countrymen would say better about this. Credibility is a fact, but appropriacy & skill is also the things that needs to be there in the board of FA.
@asif7..its a sad one, I heard the local team from his community voted against him, there were many strong forces against him. He is credible, I feel the corrupt ones doesn't want their show to end. To me by his exposure and passion towards sports development and love for his country, he is the right man for the job.
Corrupts always win first hand, but its honesty and truthfulness that laughs in the end.
Hopefully, some day he would see the bright days, that what he deserves, coming true.
Thanks..
