Foy Park

Foy Park is along the Perkiomen Creek and trail at the bottom of Spring Mountain. It is about an hour North of Philadelphia. It's been a park for at least 20 years. Before that, it was a swampy jungle with a few abandoned structures that made me think it was once a camp.

The old red building with the chipped paint is Clemmers Mill. I can't believe it's still standing after so many extreme floods. The old railroad trestle is now a part of the trail. I grew up near here, and the creek used to be deeper. We used to jump off the bridge all the time before it became a public recreational trail. It was shallow and we'd always hit the bottom every time even back when it was several feet deeper. I think the water level is lower now because a dam a few miles downstream was demolished several years ago.

Cabin Craft Adventures is across the street from the park. It used to be just a small mom and pop ski shop. Now they rent kayaks and have camping events with bands and boat tours. Candlebox actually played there 2 summers ago! I used to tube the creek when I was a teenager. I think I'm gonna do that again soon!
