Hello lovers and lovers of black and white photography. Today I propose a singular story.

On my monthly trip to my mother-in-law's house in Pinar del Rio, on my way there is an imposing abandoned building in the middle of a hill. It is a hospital that was built in the 40's as a tuberculosis sanatorium, it was called Hospital de Guanito, being an ideal place for the treatment of this disease at that time. It is located at km 18 of the Pinar - Guanito highway. The air there is very pure and always fresh.

Years later it became a home for the elderly and later a psychiatric hospital. This building had some constructive errors, one of them being the great shortage of water in the area, a serious problem to this day, according to the opinions of the inhabitants of the nearby settlement.

In the 90's, with the arrival of the economic crisis in Cuba (called Special Period), it was dismantled and abandoned. It is rumored by the inhabitants of the place that at night there are apparitions and sightings of ghosts or beings from the other world, but they are nothing more than hearsay and gossip of the people.

Although by the gloomy appearance of the building some ghosts could well live there, maybe they come out at night because they have an eternal thirst, I don't know, anyway I would never go in there at night! See youuuuuuu!

La sed del fantasma
Hola amantes y apasionados de la fotografía en blanco y negro. Hoy propongo una historia singular. En mi trayecto mensual a casa de mi suegra en Pinar del Río queda de camino una imponente edificación abandonada en medio de una colina. Se trata de un hospital que se construyó en la década del 40 como sanatorio de tuberculosos, se le llamó Hospital de Guanito, siendo un lugar ideal para el tratamiento de esta enfermedad en aquella época. Está situado en el km 18 de la carretera Pinar - Guanito. Se respira allí un aire muy puro y siempre está fresco.
Años más tarde se convirtió en un hogar de ancianos y posteriormente en hospital psiquiátrico. Este inmueble tuvo algunos errores constructivos siendo uno de ellos la gran escasez de agua en la zona, siendo un problema serio hasta el día de hoy, según opiniones de los habitantes del asentamiento cercano. Ya en la década de los 90, con la llegada de la crisis económica en Cuba (llamada Período Especial), se desmantela y queda abandonada. Se rumora por los habitantes del lugar que por las noches hay apariciones y avistamientos de fantasmas o seres del otro mundo, pero no son más que habladurías y chismes de la gente. Aunque por el tétrico aspecto del edificio bien podrían vivir allí algunos fantasmas, quizás salen de noche porque tienen una sed eterna, no sé, de todas formas ¡nunca entraría ahí de noche! ¡Nos vemoooooossss!
