Another great week for the Savers :) Congrats @tydynrain @deraaa and @stdd on your wins!

I personally have not experienced buying $HIVE with fiat. I used stablecoin specifically USDT which I had lying on my CEX trading account to buy some $HIVE earlier last year.

Great job on the added power up on @sally_saver's account! It's growing, yay!

The last time I bought Hive with Fiat, it was a bit complicated, I had made a wire transfer in Euros to my Coinbase account, then I had looked at the Hive-engine exchange market to choose the most interesting cryto to exchange for Hive, with the least slippage. It was LTC I think, so I exchanged my Euros for LTC on Coinbase and then sent them to Hive-engine and converted them into Swap.Hive, and finally into Hive.
I don't think this is the best way.

I buy HIVE only from people i know directly and then usualy i transfer them in paypal. I have no binance account.

Yes i do. In my splinterlands guild are some big fishes that change daily sps to hive and want to sell them to the current market price without any fee.

The project is going strong!

To answer the contest question: I usually power-up on Hive power-up day and use my post earnings to do it. However, if I don't have at least 100 Hive to power-up with, then I will buy some with fiat. Usually I buy BTC (or Doge) on Uphold and transfer it into H-E, then trade that for Hive. I'm sure that's far from the optimal way, but it works quickly and easily.

With regards to getting fiat into HIVE, being based in the UK means it's not hard, but can still be pricey in terms of fees.

My current method is;

  1. Bank transfer to Coinbase (it's significantly cheaper than paying for crypto direct by debit or credit card).
  2. Use the now-loaded GBP wallet in Coinbase to buy LTC (one of the lower gas fee coins)
  3. Go to Blocktrades (via Hive Wallet) and get the address to send LTC to Hive, HP or HBD. It offers all three, and the rate of slippage seems to be minimal, just a shame they now need you to do KYC with them.
  4. Go back to Coinbase, input the address and wait for the Hive to turn up in your wallet.....

In terms of fees, buying £50 worth of LTC through Coinbase costs £1.99, or £100 worth costs £2.99. Transferring it to HIVE (both £50 and £100, I'm not rich enough to have tried larger amounts !) costs 0.0000042 LTC, which is less than a penny.

I also have a distinct feeling that there's some significant slippage when it comes to Coinbase exchange rates, as the LTC rate when transferring from LTC to HIVE just a few minutes later is usually from £0.10 to £1.00 worse.

Thank you ! I like to keep good records (it's sad, I know 😁 ) but it helps me spot when an organisation moves the goalposts around, and it's useful when it comes to doing the annual tax return.

Just a follow-up on this thread. I looked at the Hive Keychain option, which works through Transak.

At today's prices, using the Coinbase method would get me 304 HIVE for £100. On Keychain, using a debit or credit card would be about 300 HIVE, but doing a direct bank transfer would be 308, which is pretty good.

Where it all kind of fell over was that you have to go through KYC, and their KYC assumes you are doing it all on a mobile phone, I couldn't see a way to do it on a desktop PC. When I tried, it wanted me to switch to a mobile halfway through the process, and the method they tried to describe didn't work.

I might give it another go at a later date, but I hate KYC at the best of times, and hate it even more when it doesn't work properly.

Thank you ! I saw the other day that there's apparently a way to do it through Hive Keychain. I haven't tried it yet, and not sure if it works from the UK (there's a bank transfer option, but if it's treated as an international bank transfer into USD, my bank will probably add a load of fees to it), but I'll give it a closer looks sometime and find out more about how it works. Be interesting to see whether cutting a step out makes much difference to the amount of HIVE that actually pops out at the other end.

Currently i haven't bought Hive for fiat, i have only used my HE-Token to buy Hive. Maybe if Nexo would offer Hive, than i would buy some there and also exchange some Crypto.

Have asked support if they will support Hive, but unfortunately no answer. Maybe just need to ask enough Hive users who are at nexo!?

Yes, I was buying Hive for fiat. I used Huobi exchange and p2p trading. First I bought USDT for fiat. And then I bought Hive on the market. All this inside Huobi, using a card.

Yeah, I've only seen mypathtofire's post on this topic lately too...

The main lesson I learned when buying Hive for fiat is don't piss! And choose proven big exchanges. All transactions are conducted within the exchange, the guarantor is the exchange itself. All in all, it's pretty simple at this point).

Congrats to you 😉 and it's great that you have experienced buying HIVE with fiat. It's important indeed to choose the exchange which we use. Peakd has a direct link to buying HIVE using credit card but I have not tried using it.

I haven't bought Hive with fiat and the only money I did put into the ecosystem was through Splinterlands when I first started. So I can't really say anything on that end.

Just wondering but my name still isn't on the goals table. My 2023 goals are 8.5k HP and 7.7k LEO Power. There is a secondary goal of 2.2k HBD though too. My update for the week is here.

First of all, congratulations to @tydynrain @deraaa and @stdd for your prizes!!!

My answer to the questions posed is yes, I have bought Hive with fiat. I used the Binance exchange platform and the process was simple and fast. Still @mypathonfire hadn't written his fantastic tutorial yet, hehe. I was guided by one I found in Spanish, my language.

The experience has been very positive for me because I have been able to take advantage of the bear market to accumulate more HP. This way my account grows and I can support more and more hivers.

There is little I can say about buying Hive with Fiat because I have never done it. I have done the opposite operation. And I usually do it with Binance, and if I have to buy Hive with fiat I would do it there.

As for the questions- I have not tried the route in or out of Hive ecosystem, but I hear the easiest for me would be sending/receiving to Binance.

Great to see another year of savings, I see a lot of HP and HBD goals, and as much as I enjoy seeing that and have my own goals for those I like to switch it up a little for my set goals here..

Last year I set out for EDSM and Splinterlands collection power, just hit 1500 on EDSMM yesterday so I think that's alright for now (although I'll probably try for 2k before it sells out xD)

My main goal will be 600k lvl for @psyberx game, I'd like to have 300k in HE wallet and 300k in the swap.hive<>lvl liquidity pool, this will be a challenge given the fluctuating amounts in LP but I like that :-)

Secondary goal, let's see.. thinking SPS goal or maybe a SPS/day goal or dec/day from rentals, yeah lets go with the last one. 5k dec/day in rental income in SPLEX! At the moment I got 5400 over last 14 days so that's just short of 400 a day at time of writing, rentals also fluctuate quite heavily so this will either be a breeze if the market takes off into bull levels and splinterlands gets another hype cycle or a real grind if it doesn't either way it will be a good fun goal to chase :-)

Now, for my buying of hive with fiat, I have my funny little route that worked most times but also caused a bunch of stress at other times. It goes like this (Netherlands based):

Fiat>>Bitvavo>>buy nano or litecoin (low fees for transaction)>>send to binance wallet>> trade for BUSD>>trade for Hive>> withdraw to hive wallet

Binance unfortunately doesn't allow SEPA deposits anymore which used to be a feeless option to top up fiat in Europe. Most other options are expensive or inconvenient/unclear to me. So I use bitvavo which is a Dutch exchange to put fiat into nano or litecoin, lately only litecoin since nano was held for over 2 weeks last year even though the block was confirmed, was a large amount too so lots of stress. Litecoin seems to work fast and cheap till now. So that is my preferred method these days.

Quite some steps but I'm very used to it now and just do it once a month or so, keeps me from aping in at the wrong moments too!

I've been quite busy these last week or so and not been online much - surprisingly my figures didnt take too much of a hit, but I think they will next week ! Dont you just hate it when life gets in the way of Hive !

In terms of using fiat to buy HIVE, I've never done it, and nor have I ever withdrawn anything from HIVE to fiat. I've tried building my Hive resources via putting in work as opposed to investing fiat. Its going fine so far, although the first so many months were slooooow ! I do want to try withdrawing a small amount at some point just to see how it works - but I'm in no rush to do that yet - maybe once I hit 10K HP !!!

Have not done my 6 month post yet will get there but my major ones for now goals are

As for adding Fiat I have not in the last 2 years so I am no help on this one. I just never take any out so I am building from what I have and what I earn.

Thanks for adding my annual goal.
I launched the pre-sale of my SORT token to the market and it is starting to gain traction.
I use Binance to buy HIVE with Fiat. It works fine for me but I don't use it too much.
This week was a little slower than the last but it wasn't bad. Let's hope that the HIVE price continues to recover.

For me, to buy fiat will be via Crypto.com
In my country, due to regulations, not many available exchanges allowed for us to choose.

Bought it once to kick start, but subsequently will be through slow savings within the block chain.
