Travel to Cartegena
What a weird couple of days, plus a lot of preproduction, I'm trying to keep my mind positive as I am a bit out of my comfort zone.
We've arrived to Cartegena, something that I would probably never do without outside motivation. Its not that its not popular, in fact Cartegena is the most visited city in Latin America. But I'm a country bumpkin with generally little desire to do touristy things.
Cartegena also happens to be the oldest city in America. In South America? My grandma asked, no in all of the Americas, Cartegena was founded in 1533, and while we are here we might get to see the old fortifications that resisted english invasion before Jamestown and Plymmoth Rock were even a thing.
We took the 6hr bus ride to Bogotá to board the plane, and at one point I realized that boarding is such a dumb tradition ripe for innovation. Why on earth are the front seats getting boarded first? Why don't they make the economy plebs like us get on first.
What value is it for first class to have to sit there longer as the plebs hover over you waiting to file into the plane in ass-backwards order?
Makes no sense. Maybe someone will realize this some day.
We met up with Juan, our friend and fellow ecobank member, who is working in Cartegena. He is a civil engineer and has been helping on some of the many constructions around Cartegna, which is booming with its incredible tourism industry.
He is eager to get back to Líbano, Cartegena might be where the work is, but its an expensive city to live, eat and move around in. We'll likely see him back home soon as he is finishing up his business here.
Back at home, all of our exciting projects await us, and I have a hard time taking my mind off of it, to do what I imagine I am supposed to do for the next three days - ignore everything important and see a new place.
We are here 3 days, so let's see what we get up to. There is also a lot of time sensitive work to do, and we brought computers to do it, so maybe we'll split our time between tasks.

Whenever one goes on a trip like this with friends and family, it feels so much better. I have never been on a plane in my life. Try it this year and get this experience.
