Sundry items about dCity - new life in an old (but fun) game
dCity is going strong, we are well into update summer and @gerber has been rolling out a number of updates and generally proving to everyone that dCity is still alive, and is likely to be so for a very long time.
In other words, the rumors of the 'death of dCity' are greatly exaggerated.
So perhaps its is not a surprise that some number of people have begun to notice and to take an interest in dCity. We have had @thorlock from HiveDrip come in, among others, and ask a lot of questions, generally get them answered, and discover that dCity is a fun, interesting and long-term viable math game where people can have fun and maybe make some tokens along the way.
So 3rd edition minting is coming to a close, HP delegation for citizen NFTs has been activated, and there are tons of new citizens - dCity is still a game very much under active development.
As one of the top players - and self-proclaimed emperor for life, I am excited by these things. Perhaps my peaceful reign and steady hand has led to stability in the market, and this has led people to trust their HIVE in this game. Maybe, although in reality its likely only true in the negative. Because we are not crazily printing SIM, the price has been able to stay strong during a time of exciting development.
Certainly, I could never have done it just on my own. But I think its working. And recently, I removed the police tax - so keep your eye on your crime rate (updated just once daily to keep the secret formula, well, secret) if you don't want your citizens turning into criminals.
So through stability and development, we continue to play, and thrive. New combination buildings, hints at a new set, the upcoming religion expansion, the continuing giveaways to SIMClub members, all these things and more are keeping the game alive, and occasionally bringing new players.
@hoarding's starter city - update on results
Some of you may remember that back in December of last year I put 160 HIVE into making a self-contained starter city in my effort to make a dCity tutorial. Most of the information is still good, but due to many updates, mainly the ending of citizen mining, not all of it is still valid. I even did an update post about a month later, viewable here.
Today that 160 HIVE would buy roughly 512k SIM, just slightly more than the 506k I bought with it last year to get started. Today the city has 72k SIM on hand, as well as 5.7 liquid HIVE, and is worth an astonishing 1 million SIM at list prices:
Now, I did luck out in many ways. I made the city just in time for the Priest airdrop. I have mined 2 BTC Mining Tech cards in the last 8 months of the city's life, and managed to sell one of them. I have not, however, been able to claim any citizens, as multiple discord accounts is a bridge too far for me in my effort to play this game.
So a 'real' player who is playing this city might have done even better.
I decided then to leave the city go, to see what would happen. @hoarding stands as a living testiment to dCity - I claimed in December last year that I thought it was still viable to start to play - and I think I'm right and I will let the city life to prove it (or at least test the theory).
So far so good. I log into it a few times a month to pay off student debts and check for any updates, like the time I sold the second BTC mining Tech card. But really - the city does its work all by itself. Its still going strong, and one day I think I will close the case by getting the 160 HIVE back. Only time will tell.
Final thoughts
I still love dCity. Sure it would have been better if you started yesterday (or last December), but I still think its a viable game for new players to pick up at any time, invest a few tokens in and enjoy learning the ins and outs, the layers, and maybe earn a few tokens along the way. For crypto-curious newbies, dCity is the perfect place to practice 'trading' on the market, with dozens of different NFTs that all have utility in the game.
These are just my opinions. What do you think?
I think dcity is more fun the less I tweak my city.

Yeah you are right. This game is very interesting and playing with fun.
It's a great game, thanks for mention. I wish I had gotten into it sooner. Looking forward to the next set of cards!
