dCity beginner's city 7 quarters on - what are the results?

Life has been feeling a bit grindy lately, so I took a moment to look in on one of my long term side projects, @hoarding. Near Christmas of 2022 I wrote the dCity beginner's guide, a now outdated post that, together with the sequel one month later, served as an example (and time capsule) of how to get started in that period. Which we did with 160.5 HIVE tokens.

How is it going? The time capsule continues on a completely separated wallet - so we can have some idea of the results. I will admit to only sometimes forgetting about the project, logging in one or two times a month to the account before forgetting for another long while, likely until I need the governance votes to try to win an election.

And what are the results? Was dCity a viable investment of 160.5 HIVE during this time period? In the 1 year on post, we were up 80%, valued at ~288 HIVE, including city value, SIM on hand and liquid HIVE earned.

Let's check the current results:

Our city is slightly smaller now, because indeed we have been slowly selling off our pieces. First to keep up with the popularity changes, and then further to up our liquid SIM holdings. Notice we have an amazing 1million+ SIM Power, meaning we are eligible for exciting things - like the recently commented SIMbox airdrops.

But amazingly, we have done it so nicely and comfortably and I suppose the 'correct pieces' at the right times, because our city value is very similar - averaging out to just north of 1M SIM in value or 191.568 HIVE - or 119% of what we spent.

With total 22.93 liquid HIVE rewards (14.2%), plus a current holding reward income of 5.6 HIVE per month and growing; which means this city is producing a ~41.8% apr on the original amount invested.

The account's 1.1M SIM on hand are worth 203.4 HIVE at today's market price (126.7%), very easy to sell but these are what is producing the nice daily HIVE income from above, so we haven't touched it yet. Nonetheless, now that we are above 1M SIM Power, we could use extra income to continue to build the city.

Maximum returns?

I should mention here that these are far from 'maximum' returns, as I did not use discord with this account at all over the last 21 months, which probably would have been the most profitable part of having a city like this, safely within the top 400 income and now in the SIMmillionaire club.

But we did get some good luck on tech mining, able to mine (and sell) two BTC-mining technologies over the many months.

So what are the totals?

Total assets on the account sum as follows, based on an initial investment of 160.5 HIVE:

HIVE - 22.93 HIVE (14.2%)
dCity NFTs - 191.568 HIVE (119%)
SIM - 203.4 HIVE (126.7%)

Total Value: 417.898 HIVE (260%)

dCity is still an amazing little game with profits hidden in every nook and cranny if you can observe patterns and try to buy low and sell high. I will keep this experiment going just to get a baseline of how the game is going, I think its a fun little metric-city.

Greetings friend, I don't know if you are still in my country. I never entered this project because I feel it is too late.
I hope you are in good health, blessings
