Floods Submerge Several Districts in Bireuen.
Heavy rain that hit parts of Bireuen Regency, Aceh Province, on Thursday, 25/01/2023, resulted in four sub-districts in Bireuen Regency being hit by flooding.
The sub-districts hit by flooding include Simpang Mamplam, Pandrah, Peulimbang and Jeunieb sub-districts. The flood resulted in dozens of villages in four sub-districts being submerged in overflowing floods, the flood also submerged several schools and government offices.
The flood also resulted in hundreds of families being forced to flee, the water level inundated residential areas with a height of up to 40 centimeters to 90 centimeters.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Bireuen Regency Disaster Preparedness Cadet Coordinator Forum, Zulfikar, in releasing a disaster report, stated that the flood submerged four sub-districts including Simpang Mamplam, Pandrah, Peulimbang and Jeunieb sub-districts.
For Peulimbang District, floods submerged the villages of Garab, Bale Daka, Matang Kulee and Kreung Baro. Meanwhile, Simpang Mamplam District, West Ie Rhob Village.
Meanwhile, Jeunieb District includes the villages of Janggot Sungko, Paya Bili, Meunasah Keutapang, Meunasah Lueng, Meunasah Tunong, Meunasah Kupula, Meunasah Tambo, Meunasah Dayah, Lheu Simpang, Cot Geulumpang Tunong, Lheu Barat, Cot Geulumpang Baroh, Blang Poroh, Meunasah Kuta, Blang Rale, Ulee Rabo, Tanjong Bungong, Blang Mee Timu and Blang Mee Barat.
Pandrah District includes the villages of Garot, Gampong Blang, Pandrah Kande, Pandrah Janeng, Blang Samagadeng and Panton Bili.
The impact of this disaster resulted in hundreds of family heads being forced to evacuate temporarily, the evacuation points were in Meunasah of their respective villages.
Zulfikar added that floods also inundated the Banda Aceh - Medan state road with water levels reaching 30 centimeters to 60 centimeters. Several schools and government offices were also flooded.
The flood was caused by heavy rain that hit the Bireuen Regency area, causing river water to overflow and enter residential areas. Said Zulfikar.
