Myself and I for A Week
Have you ever imagined a week all by yourself? No phones, no computer, no friends, just you and yourself and probably a pet if you have one? Now stop the imagination and just figure how well you do spend this very rare great moment. Several times I have thought I can't do without a phone but I survived the last time my phone got stolen and I realized I was able to engage in other times my phone had distracted me from giving attention to them. A week with no phone, computer, or friend no doubt will make a positive impact in my personal development.
WHAT I'LL DO FOR THE WEEK
READ BOOKS: Sometimes my brain tells me I'm busy whenever I want to read a book. I know those voices are inspired by my addiction to the phone. When those voices are silenced, I'll no longer struggle within myself to take up a new hobby like reading books. I'm a fast reader, I should be done with at least 10-15 books within that week in different categories. This would help me gain more knowledge in finance, management, story writing, etc. And probably help me develop love for reading that I have always struggled within myself to do.
TAKE UP A NEW HOBBY: I'll take up a new hobby like gaming, just something to make me feel refreshed each time I'm stressed with reading. Using a mobile phone had truly made me forsake certain habits and Hobbies I was used to doing. Growing up I loved games but gradually the love for it started to depreciate as I engaged more in social media. I will reconnect with my old passion during the week .
LEARN A SKILL: I'll learn something simple like driving a car. That shouldn't take more than two days to learn. Yeah, I'll teach myself, I know I have no one around, probably a very lonely street and an empty road with no cars. I'll keep bashing into anything until I learn. Hahaha. That's fun, I know I wouldn't worry about my mobile phone, a computer or friends while learning all I could for the week beside I'm already a certified loner, the difference is just the absence of a mobile phone that has become my muse for now.
There's a lot we can channel these time spent on digital devices on. Even if sometimes it is just hard to imagine ourselves without them.
Yeah, it's difficult to do especially with the fact that most of our income comes from it
Learning a new skill will surely keep your mind occupied during the break from computers.
That's true. Just not to think of what I'm missing
