Walking into the Rainbow

avatar

A kaleidoscope of color, the hues of the surrounding sky make for an image that shines beauty on everything it touches, including my soul, oh, my soul! A profound part of this amazing world we live in. It had been raining, but, gave way to a kinder, gentler day to meander through the fields, seeing what Mother Nature offers up today.

"Don't miss all the beautiful colors of the rainbow looking for that pot of gold." - unknown

Whan you are living your day and this moment of indisputable beauty appears, right before your very eyes? As you are watching, the colors meld together, but only until they softly dissipate into the landscape, leaving only their memory behind. A brief moment, yet, it will stay with you seemingly forever, until the next one. Enjoy each moment for what it is.

signal-2023-05-09-20-57-04-272-5.jpg

It was before that moment that I was walking through the dampened fields, the darkness just beginning to lift when my eyes captured the stillness of my day. Laying quietly in the darkness, it was about to get noisy.

Let's step into the day for our #WednesdayWalk with @tattoodjay, even though I am breaking out early. This particular challenge is a great way to get out and shoot some photos, focus your thoughts, and see what you can see, giving in to a short distance to take a walk. Don't forget to look up and down, and all around. You never know what you might be missing! The picture below is in the same field as the last shot, but, it was three weeks ago and the change in scenery is stunning. Life has started and the growing season has started to wake up.You can see that early mornings at this time of year appear to be a tad wet, but, dry up when the sun appears. It almost always gives us the sun and shine we are always looking for.

signal-2023-05-04-10-26-28-393-4.jpg

I seem to be running behind. This would not be the first time I ask, and probably not even the last - but, I must ask. "Do you ever run out of time?" Is it fixable? Can it be? Is there an answer out there that I am missing? If anyone knows where I can buy some time, I will be forever in your debt. I cannot be the only one, for sure. How do you manage all of your days between work, play, family, and Hiving? Of course, balance is key, but, how do you achieve it? So tell me, do! How do you make it all work for you?

The morning is lifting an I follow a path of stones placed purposely to connect the two fields. The first shot is the same as three weeks ago, and the one below it is the current state of affairs. The rocks are left to give a little interest and perhaps charm to the landscape.
I think it succeeded. It feels peaceful in this quiet part of the day.

signal-2023-03-29-21-42-25-365-19.jpg

The walk has changed in a matter of weeks, the almost barren trees giving way to the leaf coverage. I find both of them beautiful in their own way. I can see the structure while it sits solemnly in the light of dawn, all the while the pops of color appear everywhere in the grass.

signal-2023-05-04-10-37-04-190-6.jpg

Almost as if the day opens up for them to enjoy. The cooler morning air is a nice change from the heat of the later day. Enjoying the green grass and sunshine on their back. The best of both worlds in horse life. Close enough for us to enjoy on a daily basis, yet, far enough away to give them the space they need. Tiny signs of life are all around us. Is it summer or winter coming to your part of the world? I have four seasons here and they are very distinct. Spring is definitely here and summer will be coming around the corner a little over a month. June 21st to be exact.

signal-2023-05-09-20-49-45-586-4.jpg

I like to walk along the fence line, down to the other side of the pasture. There is nothing to see except a stone fence and nature, but, isn't that enough? On those days when nature is my only companion, this is more than enough. Do you like walking alone or is it something you like to do with others? I think you can do both, but some days, I like to inhale it on my own.

It is always fun to take you along, singing my song... Respect nature and she will reward you with her beauty, for it surrounds you without charging a cent.

signal-2023-05-04-20-04-11-519-11.jpg

All I have are my words, armed in my mind, written in pen, stand by stand. Oh, yes. Still by hand. It has a different feel. Altered not by keys, backspace, and delete, I write, erase, tear it to pieces and start all over again. And again.

It’s my way. I walk out to the deep end of the page and dive right in.

Spring 2023.jpg

As always, there will be flowers, forever and a day. There must always be flowers. #alwaysaflower - for me, for you, to color our world.

Thank you for visiting my post 💖 Don't ever forget what a wonderful world we live in, people. Some days, it is not as easy to see, just how amazing it really is. Me, I try to do my part. Kindness counts. Wherever you go, whatever you do.

Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer’s lease hath all too short a date:
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimmed,
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance, or nature’s changing course untrimmed:
But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow’st,
Nor shall death brag thou wander’st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou grow’st,
So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

i love the shot with fog in the vineyard , could look very nic in haloween when you convert it blackandwhite 😉

I see you also had dark clouds and sunrays and you had horses as a bonus. you made some typpos on the #wednesdaywalk tag , or did you do that on purpose :)

Thanks, Mick! @stresskiller I had a black-and-white shot that I forgot to put in the post, my haste to get it out is to blame. Not so much on the typo. That was just not seeing it.

Thanks so much. I will change it in a bit. :)

Beautiful shots! It's pretty crazy how much the green has started to pop up by us. The house we used to be able to see through the woods is now all hidden behind a wall of green. I've had to mow my lawn three times already, and most of the dandelions have already completed their first cycle.

You have been colder than normal, haven't you? I am so happy to hear that you are all green once again. I thought it was never going to show itself this year. I cannot believe that it is colder up on the Norther tier still, even in Connecticut, my family says it is in the hight thirties at night on occasion. Crazy weather, isn't it?

We were all warm for the winter and got a cold spell in March! Hello?

My dandelions gave me a run for my money this year. Specks of color for my lawn! :) Thanks for stopping by and leaving your words! I hope you are having a great week!

Yes, it definitely seems like it has been colder. I've been hesitant to do anything with my garden due to the frost. I had very few dandelions in the front where I have it treated, but in the back they were/are all over.

I actually just put my garden in this week. I have been hesitant for the same reason. We had weather in the 80s for ten days, then we got a few days of cold! So I waited and it seems to have passed.

Ha! Let's see who gets the last laugh, the weather or me. :)

Best of luck. I might put in a tomato plant this weekend. Other than that, I don't think I will have much of a garden. Maybe some flowers to bring in the bees...

Good luck with that! I just planted some new ones and even a hibiscus got put in the garden. We will see how it does!

So many wonderful shots! It's beautiful there. I'm amazed by how advanced the Samsung camera is compared to the iPhone. I swear if I wasn't so embedded in Apple's walled garden I'd make the move to Android.

How do I manage my time? It's taken me years to master since leaving my day job in 2017. Developing some kind of semi-flexible routine (that's fluid to a certain extent) helps me. That usually means a couple of work-related goals per day, most days. Work usually comes first for me then when that's done my reward is playing (cycling, walking, sightseeing if traveling, etc.) If I don't get something done my conscience can eat away at me. I do take days off here and there but I love what I do so much it doesn't feel like work.

Most people like Apple better. I'm the only one in my family that likes Apple, but, my geek squad for Apple got married and moved away. :) The rest are Windows people. I can usually fix my own issues, but, if it is Apple, I am on my own.

Easy to see why I stay with it. :)

I like the way you manage it. My lack of management usually is with Hive and having the time for what I want to do. But, it eats into other things. I am getting better at it. :) I suffer from a guilty conscience though!

Hi, Eric! @ericvancewalton I hope your week is going swimmingly! Thanks for stopping by and leaving your words.

An amazing walk post every image is so beautiful, but what really caught me is the contrast between the first two photos

the gorgeous vivid greens and the colorful rainbow in the first, and the moody but magical feel of the second one, such contrasting yet complementary images

Ha! That is because the first shot is when the sun came up and the second one is how the day began. :) I wanted the rainbow as a thumbnail, but, did it wrong instead of having the thumbnail and then it showed up in order, I forgot to check it that way. I also forgot a black-and-white shot... I am such a mess today! LOL

Hi, JJ! @tattodjay

Well whether planned or not I think it worked out very well in mY mind

I have never worked out how to pick a photo for the thumbnail, I just always let the first photo be the thiumbnail

Lately, if the picture isn't one of the better ones, I select a different thumbnail than the first one. I have mixed reviews on how I feel about that. :)

Normally, I will go with the first one.

OK now I have to ask, how do I select a different image to be the thumbnail inthe post

(Edited)

Its when you are setting up your post, there is an option that asks what picture is first. It shows as a thumbnail, but when you open the post, it shows the picture that goes first. It is after you put all the topics in.

I don't think I have noticed that option i prepare most of my posts on Peakd, maybe they do not have that option but i will look for it when I prepare my next post

How do you manage all of your days between work, play, family, and Hiving?

Nowadays I spend around 1 hour (or less) per day with Hive. One post per day. Or every other day. And I write a few comments too. I spend most of the time in the physical world. I enjoy the life on Tenerife. I have not played video games since I arrived on Tenerife (since the afternoon of 2023.04.21). I keep the contact with my sister, with my brother (and with my friends) either on Facebook or on telephone.

!LUV.

Have a nice day. All the best. Greetings and much love from Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain.

Hello! Hello! So glad to hear from you and I agree! I spend most of my time in the Real World because that is where my life is, but, I do enjoy a little down time on Hive. I ave never been a gamer, so I get that there is no great thing I am missing. I will have to walk over to your post to see what you have been up to.

I had no reason to believe you wouldn't love it. I am so glad it is working out for you and you like the people that you live with. You said you love the cave! While I cannot imagine living in one, I have been in many and can see the allure. Yours looks comfortable and set up very much like a home. Bonus.

It was good to hear from you! All the best!

But to answer your question, I don't! Unless I have a sleepless night over all I have to do, or have left undone, I am happy to put the undone on one day's to-do list onto the next day's to-do list. What's going to happen if something slips through the cracks? I'll have to pay a fine? Nothing worse than losing some sleep. Let time slip through your fingers, it won't hurt.

Your daughter has camera chops too? These shots are all spectacular.

Sometimes if we are both there, I don't know if I used one of her pictures until the end, as I switch them up. Usually, I don't, but on walks some of them are so close. The outdoors on a rainy day is always beautiful. It has no choice. :)

Haha! Pay a fine? That is funny. I do let the time slip by on my market challenge when I am really behind and as it happens, people are not as happy as you. :) As for life, I can usually push things, but, I try not to push too much. My family is huge, so they are always needing a word with me, :)

But, yes! I like the way you think. I need to adopt that attitude. I'll pay the fine. LOL

You are too funny! xo

Great place to walk! I so miss green grass like the one in your photo. The green grass that was so accessible and present in my childhood... thanks for reminding me.
I understand your pleasure in being there, walking through the grass. Beautiful photos, the rainbow is special but my favorite is the second one.
Time, our friend and enemy! It has defeated me and it defeats me more and more with each passing day. I can't give good advice...

It is exactly that! The childhood memory of it all, the freedom, the green, the endless days of summer. I love the second shot also, most people prefer rainbows, so it got the first slot. :)

If I find out where we can buy more time, I will let you know! :)

That is such a great quote - sadly so - most do miss the vibrant colours of the rainbow in their (often futile) hunt for the pot of gold. What a lovely walk. And while I love that shot with the beautiful horses, first photo is something else! I'd paint it. We had a double rainbow kissing our farm this week. Beautiful. Full of promise

When I was growing up, they always made reference to the pot of gold during St. Patrick's Day.

Yes, I love the equine excitement of morning, but, the rainbow? How could anyone resist the beauty of that moment?

I am with you! Full of promise! ❤️

I hope you have had a lovely day and all is well in your world.

When there is such a weather and such a place where a person is walking and a cold wind is blowing. This type of places is best for walk. A few years ago I went to a place with my friends and there was exactly the same weather with similar clouds and after a while it started to rain lightly.

I don't! I leave everything as a terrible mess of half started Stuff and chaos. 😂

That's a really, really nice way to get to start the day. Talk about breathtaking and re-invigorating! That's how you achieve it all; you start your day with a sense of zen.
