I'm Walking! It's Wednesday!

Today is another chapter in the days of perfect days. For all practical purposes, today is a perfect day. It is on days like this, it matters not that life isn't without fault, or perfectly perfect, because frankly, what is perfect? What does that really mean? I have to say that I am supremely delighted that most of my days, I consider being reasonably perfect. The sun is shining, the birds are singing and I am free to wander about in Mother Nature's backyard. How can this not be perfect?? Let's walk through the wonder. They went crazy with the tulips this year. Oh, my! They are beautiful.

Let's step into the day for our #WednesdayWalk with @tattoodjay, even though I am breaking out early. This particular challenge is a great way to get out and shoot some photos, focus your thoughts, and see what you can see, giving in to a short distance to take a walk. Don't forget to look up and down, and all around. You never know what you might be missing!

Bradford Pear Tree, it's time for the blooms to come forth, their beauty, I want them to be intoxicating because their petals say they are, but, not everything is as it seems. Their perfume belies its beauty. Alas, it is quite the imposter.

That is actually an imposter picture. I took it last year and my picture didn't come out today, so I slid the (not this year) picture in there for show and tell. I tried not to let it ruin my perfect day. Actually, I didn't know about it until eleven pm, so, in fact, it didn't ruin my day.

20230224_111434.jpg

The Tidal Basin, where we can watch as the blooms are opening up, right before our very eyes, no denying they are truly glorious. In Japanese culture, they symbolize renewal and the fleeting nature of our lives. The cherry blooms last only a short while and then they fall back to the earth in a shower of blossoms. There are trees that they have let wander, allowing their branches to reach out until they cannot hold their arms up any longer, and then, they take a lovely pose, letting it gracefully drape. Therein lies its beauty. Behold!

Have you found your sunshine yet, tucked in the clouds on this perfect day? Look harder, I say, it is out there somewhere! Today this post is dedicated to #WednesdayWalk by @Tattoodjay. I want to thank him for hosting this challenge! I like to stroll about, taking in nature and life. What better way to document my day than to take a walk through life? My favorite! Living life and walking. How can you go wrong with that combination?

20230224_111330.jpg

I looked at the bed of daffodils, their head heavy and bobbing. I watched someone put a dragonfly in the garden, poking him in. Then I strolled around a little bit to see if anyone noticed him. Not yet, but, I will pass by again in a little bit. In case you missed, there is #alwaysaflower here somewhere! :)

20230224_141041.jpg

Passing back through the Washington Monument. Just that fast, this walk is over, but, I want to thank you for strolling along with me. Let's do this again sometime really soon! Walked back again, and it was still there and when I was leaving, he was already gone. The dragonfly. Oops!

All I have are my words, armed in my mind, written in pen, stand by stand. Oh, yes. Still by hand. It has a different feel. Altered not by keys, backspace, and delete, I write, erase, tear it to pieces, and start all over again. And again.

It’s my way. I walk out to the deep end of the page and dive right in.

Thank you for visiting my post 💖 Don't ever forget what a wonderful world we live in, people. Some days, it is not as easy to see, just how amazing it really is. Me, I try to do my part. Kindness counts. Wherever you go, whatever you do.

Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer’s lease hath all too short a date:
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimmed,
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance, or nature’s changing course untrimmed:
But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow’st,
Nor shall death brag thou wander’st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou grow’st,
So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

Shakespeare

My son and I always look forward to pink snow day. There are a lot of blossoms trees and we usually get two sessions. Yes, the sun was shining today and yesterday. Sorry the shots didn't turn out but last years were good too.

We never get any snow anymore! I loved a nice blast and then suddenly, spring is horning in, trying to take over.

The sun was vibrant today, yes? It was absolutely splendorous! This is such a beautiful time of the year! I was a little disappointed about eh pears blossom, but, you are right, last years were nice. So I will cease the whining. LOL

🌿🌷🌼🌹🌸🌷🌿

Spring has sprung on the screen of my smartphone, thanks to Denise!

All of my blooms, flowering bushes and trees are still awaiting Spring 2.0 and 3.0. We had 75°F one day last week, then it plummeted and has been blah, wet, and downright cold. Only 35 miles away, my mom's tulips, daffodils and jonquils managed to open and survive during Spring 1.0 thankfully.

I love all the beauties posing in your delightful photos. The hyacinths are especially beautiful!💜

Bradford pear trees have a bounty of them in Missouri. Besides smelling like a yeast infected booty, they are very invasive. Chop them down @dswigle

I am so glad I could be of help to you! ❤️

While I was away, it was really warm here, many days in the 70s and finally the 80's! Holy Moly. It gave permission for all sorts of early blooming, but, then it got chilly, so it has slowed some of it down, which is not a bad thing. The bluebells aren't even budding! What? They are usually pretty early!

Isn't it that odd the wat 35 miles can make that much of a difference, yet it does? This area is in a banana belt, so we always get warmer weather here than in the rest of Virginia an Maryland.

I'll take it!

Bradford pears are the bane of my existence. This was the only one left as it had nests in it last year. This year, I can't let it matter. It needs to go! Many states have a bounty on them. They are so invasive and much of the south loves them! I got rid of all of them at the Shore House. My brother put them in to surprise me! 😣 He is fired!

Color it gone!

Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving your words, upvote, and the tip! Have a great rest of your week!

We have had some nice days this past week as well. Still a bit cold, but sunny and nice. It has been a good change from the storms that were rushing through every other day or so a while ago. The daffodils haven't started to sprout in the woods behind our house, so I think Spring is still a bit off for us yet. Beautiful shots!

Thank you! All it takes is a couple of warm, sunny days and they pop all at once. We are on hiatus right now, as it is cooler than it has been, but, that just makes the flowers last a little bit longer.

Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving your words. I hope you get a few shots of the daffodils when they start popping!

Have a fabulous rest of your week!

I will have to walk back there and check them out when they show up. I have something digging up my yard right now, plus rabbits living in a brush pile back there so it might be a race to get a pic before something eats them!

0

avatar

Funny enough, some squirrels, voles, and chipmunks might dig them up, but they are poisonous when eaten, a trait that keeps rodents from digging them and rabbits and deer from snacking on their buds. Yay! If they are making trails, they are probably voles or moles.

They love tulips and ate over 300 tulip bulbs I planted at the Shore House. Now I just have daffodils, which are flourishing.

I am pretty sure that yours will do great! I love that the bulbs keep multiplying, so eventually, you will need to divide them so they can keep spreading!

Yeah, I am not sure what it is. It is all kinds of little holes. I thought for a bit it might be skunks digging for grubs, but I don't see how they would get into the back yard and we haven't smelled any lately. Plus there don't appear to be any droppings anywhere. I'll have to wait until the snow is completely gone to evaluate the damage.

0

avatar

You will have to wait, you are right.

Voles are 5 to 8 inches long and have prominent orange teeth for gnawing plant roots and stems. These opportunists will dig characteristic golf ball-sized exit holes in previously established mole tunnels. Voles will make small holes with no mound and leave tracks on the surface of soft ground and grass. Their tracks resemble interwoven corridors. The tunnels damage the lawn.

Hopefully, it will have moved on by the time the snow is gone!

We had some earlier, but I think we ended up catching one in a mouse trap. I found one in the attic. These are further out by the garden. Time will tell I guess!

Certainly such delicacy and color can only bring joy to the soul. And well... writing on paper with a pen, squeezing and starting again, is the poetry of life. I do it, yes. Somehow I've been doing it for days.
The sun, yes I found it, I thought in the morning that I would not get to see it all day, I thought I would not see it maybe for many days... but it came with a warm message, even worried, I felt that it was thinking of me, that in fact it had not stopped doing so since it decided to hide.

(I think the other part of me that likes to write poems and stories is talking now, it's already midnight).

Bellas fotos.

Ah, the sun does hide at will, does it not? :) It appears out of nowhere to give us our day. I think we are all writers of sorts, I have never thought of myself as a writer, I have too much trouble expressing myself. My thoughts run all over the place, trying to find a place. :)

I hope you are having a wonderful day. Thank you for stopping by and leaving your words.
