There is something special about the ornaments that I hang on my tree. Each one has a story about it, either how it was acquired or who gifted us with a certain one. They capture memories. The one above is a perfect example. I love the color, it glitters most beautifully and it possesses a quiet dignity for the season. Every year, we buy one ornament for the tree, one that we pick out together on one of our shopping days. We don't have a budget to buy one, nor does it have to be a certain size. I think we are up to this today! Ready? Let's go!
Today is #MarketFriday initiated by @dswigle (Denise, that's me!!) Join me as we share our markets across the globe. I always look forward to seeing what you send me! It is amazing to see the different markets and cultures of our friends here on Hive.
It is true! As many ornaments as I seem to have, I only indulge in buying one new one a year. I am always tempted to buy a few, but, I try not to live in excess. I resist the temptation by donating money to my favorite soup kitchen If I dare break my own rules. I did it once and never again. We put a lot of fun into which ornament turns our head, and no! All of them are not the correct answer.
They look ordinary, yet, we all know that most of them come with a story, or one is made up over time. Old with new, handmade or handed down, each has a place on the Christmas tree, our tree. Each time we take them out of the box, lives are relived, people are remembered and perhaps a new memory will be made. One of the ways our traditions are born. It is funny to hear them explain it to one of their friends. :)
Do you carry with you the Christmas Spirit?- benevolence, magnanimity, or kindness. If you celebrate Christmas, what would say is another word for Christmas Spirit? The most beautiful time of the year. This is a common sentiment this time of year. It's interesting to note that Christmas, like many other holidays, is special for its uniqueness. It would truly be wonderful if the spirit of Christmas was with us all year round. But that would eventually be like the spirit of 10 am on a random Tuesday. I can remember the wonder of it all, being young and savoring this time of year. Wonderment is sometimes defined in terms of its rarity. Savor it now because it will soon be a new season with new feelings and different sentiments. Say it isn't true!
From the very top of the tree, the softest of song drifts through the air. Hallelujah.
Angels, we have heard on high.
Some of my very favorite ornaments are homemade. Happiness is homemade. It doesn't have to be bought to be beautiful or coveted. This is one of my favorite ornaments. I look around and at the moment, I cannot find one that can hold a candle to this one, my little gingerbread man. My oldest made this for me when he was four years old. He was so proud of it and it always had a welcome place front row center. I am empty-handed when I leave the store, but, I can assure you, the tree won't know the difference.
When I look at these shots, I can still feel the magic that they created. On another note, Hanukkah begins on December 18th.

- Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the universe, who has granted us life, sustained us, and enabled us to reach this occasion. Happy Chaukah
As always, there must be flowers to color my world. #alwaysaflower The beauty of the poinsettia is forever engraved on the blockchain. I dedicate this post to all of you. You bring joy to my soul and spread your love across the world. For this, I thank you. And just like that, these musings are done.
Please leave the link to your post here so it can easily be found by others. It helps you and me to have them in one place. Where else can you take such a quick trip around the globe? Thank you so much for joining us!! ❤
Just so you know, we are leaving the store empty-handed, finding no ornament that you be the one this year. We will wait and see if something doesn't jump at us. In the meantime, we will enjoy what we have and if you are looking for me, I'll just be hanging with the ornaments. Don't forget! #MarketFriday loves you!

You set a beautiful corner at your home! Some of the ornaments you have resemble those we had at my parent's home. And you are right, they bring some stories and memories.
I do not have a lot of those ornaments here, and the living room of the apartment I live in is not very big as we had it at home, so I tend not to set up it early. My son brought it up yesterday evening while I was not at home 😂 and put the little lights on it already. 🎄
I visited some Christmas markets this December, so one of them came today as a contribution to the event you host on Fridays :))
Have a great Friday @dswigle 🙂
Isn't that so true!! Those stories circle round and round every year. I have ornaments from my parent's and grandparents' houses. When the kids in my family left home, my mom shared a small box of ornaments for us to take with us, to remember them at Christmas. (if we didn't go home)
I started out with few ornaments, but, each year, it gets more and more. I am so glad that your son got your tree up yesterday! (or now, the day before!) I have a pencil tree for a small place in my house. It makes a great tree for small spaces. The larger tree is in the living room, but, when I saw the thin tree that would fit like that, I was sold! :)
Christmas markets!!! My favorite! Thank you for dropping the link!

Little stops many from celebrating swept up into the seasonal mood, no matter where one lives rich or poor each finds a way to find some joy come Christmas.
Anger, anguish set aside a short reprieve from reality, who cannot enjoy this time of year?
Lovely old reminders over the years collecting special memories and hanging lovingly on the tree, marrying past into present.

Wow that's your house decorated like that?!? I thought that it was a Christmas store. It looks incredible. Buying one ornament each year is a smart idea. Vacations are good for that as well. It combines trip memories with Christmas. I'm sure that you have many ornaments that were purchased in your travels.
The first one? It is the Christmas store, They have the entire warehouse separated into different rooms or a house and decorate it. It is just gorgeous in every way. I believe I would be very comfortable just moving right in. :)
I do have many ornaments that were purchased on travels, and you are right, each one spurs a memory. I cannot believe how incredibly lucky we both are to have such opportunities to travel to so many incredible places.
Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving your words.

Okay that makes sense. Yeah I thought the first image was your house 😆
for me it's to cold to get outside today ☃️
So @dswigle Denise no #marketfriday from me again this week , just this snow pictrure from Holland 🍷
Oh, but, what a beautiful shot you sent me - and snow!!!! :) I have none, so it is so much appreciated!! If I don't get to see you before, I hope you and the whole family have a very Merry Christmas!
Thank you for stopping by #MarketFriday!
Same to you Denise 🍾🎄, enjoy your Holidays
How are you dear friend @dswigle good morning
What a beautiful Christmas tree you have, and how many stories are in each one of them, I love the idea of incorporating a new ornament every year.
The Christmas word that I would add would be, empathy and solidarity
I take this opportunity to wish you a wonderful weekend
Hi @jlufer! I hope all is well with you! Good morning from here! Those are great words to use for todays world.
I didn't get my ornament for this year yet. I hope one speaks to me. :) Thank you for dropping by and saying hello.

I lived in a childhood environment where Christmas ornamental designs wasn't present, so when I visited place with decor really gives me excitement. Especially the gift, thou I know it's an empty box I still happy touching them lol. Right now as I matured, time to have some decoration but not that grande, just some lights to feel atleast the presence of December. Happy Friday ❤️ and also here is my Friday Market entry for the week ❤️.

I am not clear on what you mean, but, it sounds like someone gave you an empty box for a gift? Who would do that? I am sure I am misunderstanding.
Thank you for dropping your link.

You have such special and beautiful ornaments but that said I can see why the little gingerbread man one holds such a special place in your heart
Buying one new ornament a year is a great idea one I may start myself perhaps even today as we may go out to a shop or two today
I know someone (not me of course being the thig I am) who used to make a cross stitched decoration for the tree each year but has let that slip for the last two or three years another perhaps I oops I mean he should start that tradition again one for us and one for Jeanne and marks tree since we will spend Christmas Day with them
Here is my post for this week https://peakd.com/hive-194913/@tattoodjay/market-friday-bryant-park-christmas-fair
I remember about the cross-stitch guy!! Remind him what a great idea that is to make a little gift! I really like that idea and also, it would be so awesome to get an ornament every year. A new tradition.
I have many homemade ornaments, just the gingerbread man was the very first one that I received. :)
Thanks so much, JJ! I hope you are having a great day!
#MarketFriday loves you!
I will do, of course a little late for this year, but maybe next year, mind you he still has an easter one to finish off lOL
You will have plenty of time then! That is awesome. I should be thinking of things right after the New Year so I don't always race to the wire! :)
LOL Indeed I have no excuse I already, I mean he already has decided what one he is going to do and has the pattern printed out
🤣

My wife and I have bunch of fancy ornaments that we got for our wedding when we got married. I am guessing because we got married in October, so it was kind of close to Christmas. We never use them though. We always just stick to the same simple ones every year. I think a lot of people would probably laugh at how sparse our tree is, but I say they are lucky we even put one up. There have been years we haven't even done that!
Get a small tabletop tree and put the ornaments on it. Then call it Christmas. :) I have to agree with your philosophy! The tree and trappings don't make Christmas, what's in your heart does. Some people can carry Christmas in their hearts without needing the trappings. I think that is awesome.
Thanks for visiting #MarketFriday!
This house doesn't really have room for multiple tees. Maybe it does but the one would never be seen in the basement!
Hello @dswigle very nice tree decorations, my tree is tiny and this year I made the new ornaments with my hands haha, I liked the idea because they were unique and I saved a little money hahaha

I've never really celebrated xmas because I haven't had a family since I left mine when I became an adult, but I still have the authentic xmas spirit in me and just LOVE coloured lights- every day of the year!
So obviously, I have never had a tree up, nor collected xmas decorations or ornaments, but my very colourful, xmas like clothes all have story to tell like your ornaments do and I can't help but tell people the story of how they came to me.. (my poor work mates.🤣..)
So it's very lovely to see such effort and happy energy put into your home and I love the fact that you've still got your sons Gingerbread man from so many years ago!
Very cool to add in the Hannukah prayer with the translation too.
Hallelujah is one of the best songs ever but my favourite version is Father Ray Kelly. His voice is astounding and I think he missed his calling in life...lol...If you have not seen this before, enjoy.
That was simply wonderful! Loved his ending and of course his Hallelujahs. I expected him to yodel! :) Wasn't he so adorable? Thank you!
I am glad that you have succeeded in keeping that Christmas spirit in your soul. There are so many that have not figured out how to do this. You have an interesting way of presenting your subjects and I am sure your clothing is no different. :)
It is not without effort that those decorations go up, but, it is a labor of love. It is enjoyable to do and the entire family does it, so we make a day of it, or even two. ;)
I have kept all the homemade ornaments! I love them all! I want to thank you for stopping by and always leaving such heartwarming words. Have a great day!

family personal traditions are great! this means that the family cherishes the memory of other family members. None of my friends have anything like this. probably it's because we lose our roots, unless of course there is something to lose. you saved your son's craft from his 4 years until today!!!!! wow!!!!!
https://ecency.com/hive-196308/@tali72/my-new-purchase-at-the
Sadly, you did lose your roots, but you gained freedom. I know you do things to keep in step with who you are and where you came from.
I did save my son's ornament he made as it was done with so much love, love that is only possessed by the innocence of a child. ❤️
Thank you for stopping by and dropping your link!
#MarketFriday loves you!
you know, my dear, we basically had nothing to lose. our families - both mine and my husband's - already had no roots themselves. there is almost no communication with relatives, and there is also no need for this, since there is no desire on their part to do this either. unless there is some benefit they could have from us. I am writing about my own aunts and uncles, cousins and sisters. so we have nothing to hold on to. but on the other hand, we have wonderful, magnificent friends - this is a great wealth! I'm sure your son really appreciates that you are so touching about his feelings for you!!!
I actually understand very well what you are talking about and all I can say is it is their loss. From what I know of you, you are a happy, fun woman and it is always a pleasure to communicate with you. People that only reach out for their own gain are not what I look for in a family. Real and true love can be found in many places. I have friends that are just like family to me and are included in that circle of love.
I actually have many of the ornaments that the kids made. The tree wears them with pride. :)
I hope this finds you and your husband well. Do you celebrate Hanukkah?
Thank you for always thinking of #MarketFriday!
Oh, you are very kind, my dear! Thank you for such a warm opinion about me. I really like big families where they love and appreciate each other. Once we had the opportunity to visit such a family. We warmed up there. No, we do not celebrate Israeli holidays, just like Ukrainian ones. We like to organize holidays for others; many times we have hosted programs for weddings and wedding anniversaries of friends in restaurants; themed parties for both children and adults. we love holidays like this.
Wow such a beautiful ornaments and your decorations is very very nice.
Really Christmas is very special for all of us it's make happiness moment between family and friends. I glad to see this ornaments and i love so much. I can't express my happiness feeling by words really i love this ornaments.
Thanks for sharing this beautiful ornaments with us.

Love ornaments… and I do the same. I don’t buy all the time new ones or add a lot at once.
Just a few each year that add something special. That remind me of the year we had… more like a little token to not forget. Something that was special in 2022… I search an ornament that fits that moment.
So the Christmas tree will hang full of lovely moments. 🎄🎄🎄
Even though we had movers in this morning… I managed to write a little post today Denise 😉😎📦🚛

Yes. Probably we all do. At least the most of us.
We used to refer to Christmas as the celebration of love.
Today I saw a few Christmas relared messages/signs in the city. In addition to other things, I put a few photos about them in the entry for my #MarketFriday today:

I do wish I could carry the Christmas spirit with me all the year. Sadly what I seem to carry more is much like Jacob Marley: my chains that I have forged. Yet, like the good story informs us, it is never too late to change. Perhaps next years as this year, much like the Kranks in Christmas With the Kranks, we are skipping Christmas for the most part. Mind you, I dont hold it a grudge, we are simply just too busy.
However, I was able to get out my Market Friday!

I have never seen Christmas with the Kranks, but, I am pretty sure it would corrupt my spirit. Enjoy your day Mr. Scrooge! LOL Thanks for taking the time out of your busy schedule to post in the challenge.

Hello! When I came across the community and these publications, I was thrilled at the possibility of this exchange of cultures through this subject that sometimes goes unnoticed.
The decorations you show are beautiful, but I can understand that the homemade ones are more special, especially when they give off so much tenderness. My mom is very creative when it comes to decorating, so I love the do-it-yourself stuff.
I wanted to start participating in this dynamic, here is my post for Market Friday commenting on my journey for Venezuelan Christmas shopping, looking for the ingredients for our typical dishes that can not be missing in the holidays, since they are family moments.

Christmas is a season to remember that Christ was born to save us. This is also a season of giving that even in our simplest gift we can make someone happy especially the kids.
I don't know if this is too late but will just want to share the link of my #marketfriday challenge participation.

I agree that has always been the reason and when commercialism was set in stone, I had to separate them out when my kids were very young. It was too difficult to try to explain as they were putting them all together. As an adult, I can do that.
I knew yours was coming, as you were the first to put one out this week. Thanks so much for your words and for stopping by to drop your link.

You said it so beautifully and truthfully! I love it, and I believe that happiness is something we make for ourselves, not given to us by someone else...
The habit of buying a decoration every year I like. I don't think it's for me anymore, I'll try to pass it on to Ilinca. Very many years in communism, when we used to decorate the tree for our boy, and when we used the same ornaments kept from previous years made me get used to not buying new ornaments, just the colored bulbs.
You have a lot of ornaments, I think they are enough for you to decorate more trees! It's nice that each ornament has a story, a memory. I think that decorating your tree takes many hours. I now remember, thanks to you and this blog, that I too had favorite ornaments when I was little and I'm sorry I didn't know (me or my mom) how to keep them.
I have the same wish for you, although I know I don't need to say it... Enjoy these magical moments for yourself. I wish they were a crescendo of pleasure and joy!
I barely got a post out, I apologize to both you and @tattoodjay for mixing up your challenges again, but it was the only way I could post something and keep my promise to myself not to miss any of your community posts. The most important ones for me!
Walk in the Park, Circus, and Coffee!
I absolutely believe that with all my heart, Dan! @bluemoon While circumstances may make life not what we desire, it is what we do with it that makes or breaks us.
Au contraire, my friend. It is exactly for you. :) I would take Ilinca and both of you to shop for the Christmas ornament for your tree (or hers) and it can be your tradition. So many different ways to make it a memory. I am sure you have your own. I do have a lot of ornaments, and I decorate a couple of trees. Shhhh. Tell nobody. They already think I am crazy. I have a tree in the entryway to the house, it is a pencil tree, so it is tall and slender it doesn't take up a lot of real estates. I have another in the lower level of the house as there are always gathering of people there and in the living room.
The many ornaments come from my grandparents, parents, and one of my brothers who left this earth early and unexpectedly.I have since split them with my siblings so everyone can have a piece of him as he had no wife or children.
Thank you for the wishes, they went straight to my heart.
No worries about the post, I am so delighted that you want to still be a part of it! You know there is never to be stress over it! :)
Thank you and thank you for dropping the link!

A big house calls for more Christmas trees, no one will think you're crazy. I think you show what real passion should be like!
Of course, it's never too late to start something, I'll think about your recommendation, thanks!

What a special post! Yes, wouldn't it be wonderful if we could carry the Spirit of Christmas with us all year round? Maybe that is exactly what we should be doing...
Another word for the Christmas Spirit? How about Grace? Isn't that what it's all about?
Thank you for sharing this great post with us and for giving us some food for thought, @dswigle!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Hi! Sorry, I had posted my entry for #MarketFriday and had forgotten to drop it here

I like what you say about the decorations, their stories and meanings. We can't afford to have as many as we do because of lack of space, so they are mostly childhood memories that we cherish, even though in a few days I'll be joining my family and thus an important part of those happy memories!
I can see what you mean by the spirit of Christmas and I even have the impression that this spirit continues throughout the year, even if this period is clearly the peak !
In another register, close and far in different aspects, here's some Christmas Kimchi :)
Thank you for this meaningful article and community ! ... and sorry again for forgetting the link ^^
Nice continuation of the preparations for the festivities and good Sunday to you !

You are very kind!
I can feel the sentiments over the gingerbread ornament. Sentimental value of something is handmade from the people we treasure and love.

I agree with you on the point that happiness is home made. Home made keeps a story w8th it, a memory and several emotions. Every time we take it out , we revisit the memory.
I am imagining how full of memories your Christmas would be with so many ornaments belonging to past.
Let see who adds a new memory in this season by handing down something hehe.
Have a blessed season.
