Breathing in this Song Without Words

avatar
(Edited)

What inspires you? I always wonder what inspires other people. One person’s inspiration may come from the actions of another, reading a book, or poem, or even coming across a quote. Another may be inspired by music, the sound of children’s laughter, or silence that encourages reflective thinking. No two people are inspired in quite the same way – it is as unique as the sound of your laughter. Different things inspire me on different days. At the moment, I am aroused by the Autumn Foliage showing off every shade of beautiful she has. How about you? Tell me, do.

Split rail fences, stonewall, adding to the allure or dividing the property. It doesn't subtract the beauty, au contraire. It is multiplied. Definitely that.

It's Wednesday! We are walking! As always, I want to thank @Tattoodjay for hosting the #WednesdayWalk challenge! It is a challenge that allows you to share what you see as you walk through your day. Show me where you walked today, I want to see what you got to see and hear what you have to say. If you want to do the challenge, drop him a link on his #WednesdayWalk post here, so he can try to visit yours! Whatever your day looks like, it is worth a walk-through. You can't always have sunshine and rainbows, but, you can always have a #WednesdayWalk!

forest.jpg

A woodland walk among the trees
Guided by the gentlest breeze
Branches so green midway through the forest
Shading my view of the much bigger views
Until
One day
My tall, sturdy knight
Standing through the weather
The seasons of life
He swayed to the right just a bit
Then fell to the ground
Life will never be the same
In that corner of the forest
Taking with him, the truth as we know it
Littering the Earth

I feel like I have missed parts of these last three years, allowing Covid to change the path of my life, working more, playing harder, and trying not to let too much of life pass by me when I wasn't paying attention or was too busy to think. That is okay, this too shall pass. It did. Thankfully. I am feeling more positive about things in general, and even Mother Nature seems a little bit more amenable this year. I guess, to be honest, I never stopped doing things, even going camping and pony swims, biking, hiking, and even keeping pace with exercising. I ate more than I needed to survive and was delighted that I was so sinful. YOLO, Yes? I couldn't agree more.

mountains 3.jpg

I walk out of the Appalachian Trail to this overlook, one which I come to almost every year. I am not sure if it coincidence or if I migrate to this spot without making plans for it. It is always beautiful, no matter what time of year it is. It is high, so there is color there, blending together for a private show. It is my favorite show today, despite the miles I have hiked. The ridges are laced in the fog of the morning here.

I close my eyes to the sounds around me, breathing in this song without words. Instrumentally perfect for the day in front of me.

The AT1.jpg

A dreamy image that lifts the heart for the journey of the words...I feel the bliss of the moment. In case I don't say it enough and I know I don't. I want to thank you for the shower of wonderful that you spray down upon my pictures every single day. And just like that, this post is over. Come back tomorrow and we will do it again!

A flower. #alwaysaflower There must always be a flower to color my world. You are always such a positive presence on this digital highway, so many of you leave me such lovely messages. Beautiful words. Beautiful souls. Thank you.

All I have are my words, armed in my mind, written in pen, stand by stand. Oh, yes. Still by hand. It has a different feel. Altered not by keys, backspace, and delete, I write, erase, tear it to pieces and start all over again. And again.

It’s my way. I walk out to the deep end of the page and dive right in.

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

What inspires you?

The love of my Harris's hawk, and love in general, good propagation on the shortwave bands (the possibility of talking to people around the world on the radioamateur bands), good weather, good movies, good movie/TV series, good music, good (mostly fantasy) books, tasty/delicious foods/music, good, kind people, etc. Anything/everything good.

That is awesome! That is a nice list of things, any one of them would make my day. Even the amateur radio band. My father had one and I love hearing from all around the world when I was a kid. It was fascinating! I don't need something huge either... it is the little things mostly that inspire me.

Hi, @xplosive! I hope you are having a great day! Thanks for the Luv!

Sometimes it's better to follow an unplanned path and came across a beautiful place. Just like that in your photo... Btw, you are a good poet 😊

The last one seems like for Halloween 😅

The last one is for Halloween, but, I will probably use it until then. I don't get to use it much for the year.

Unplanned is how it goes most times. It seems to work better for me. Thank you! I love playing with words. Thank you for stopping by and leaving your words!

Have a great day!

I'd probably have to say that nature inspires me. That is likely a good reason why my wife and I camp as much as we do. I'm actually heading up towards your old neck of the woods this weekend. My buddy has to drive to Wisconsin and I offered to ride with him.

That is exactly why I do! There is no replacement for camping among Mother Nature, feeling one with the outdoors. That is such a great way to be inspired!

Lucky you! I miss going to the UP but, it really is too far for me on a regular basis, but, my brother kept his cabin on the lake, so I may go see him and his family this spring, or whenever it gets warm again! Not likely to be soon!

Have fun in Wisconsin! Another great place! Thank you for stopping by and leaving your words!

I just love old stone walls like that. We've got many places up here with remnants of them from the 1800's It's always interesting to find them out in the middle of nowhere in the woods, and think about how that used to be an old road, or someone's home. Where did they go to have become so overgrown as to be unrecognizable except for the wall? How much they must have witnessed, standing there silently watching, ever watching.

Smile, and don't lose your head! lol

Stone walls have been so much a part of my growing up. New England is filled with them, mostly from yesteryear, but still to this day, the walls stand in different states of health. The ones in the middle of nowhere, I have to guess that they were used for livestock, keeping them corraled. When you think about it, many were used as they cleared the land to farm and there were so many rocks. they stacked them and created plots.

Oh, yes! If walls could talk.

Stone walls are one of my favorite fences. They are beautiful and each has its own character. Hehe... Oh, yes. I am always losing my head or leaving it somewhere. Thanks for stopping by @ksteem!

Such a beautiful walk and the views… stunning Denise.

Yes, inspiration. It is for everybody something else. For me it changes took every day.
But mostly I’m inspired by the little things others don’t see or take for granted.
All the little details around us. Even the markings of wood or a leave that falls in the wind. A sound or a butterfly that passes by. It doesn’t need much to inspire me to be honest 😁😉🥰

Some places do draw us, even without realising we can end up there over and over again. It’s truly magical.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and photographs today @dswigle 😁
Stunning…
Have a wonderful day today, enjoy it.

It's true. It is individual and I am with you on the daily changing. I swear that is why my posts are so eclectic. Or perhaps that is the way my brain works. It is so spot on with the little things. It is always the little things in life. There was a little caterpillar, inching along, taking his time, not in a rush. He was enjoying the day. That is the way to live life, :)

It is so good to see you!

Oh, there is the sound of rain today. I think I need it. It gives me a reason to pause and take a breather. I hope you are having a wonderful day!

Rain, rain, go away!

Yep, that explains my diversity on posts too hahaha
You are the same in that way. But we knew that already from each other ☺️
The little things are what matter… we have to pause sometimes to see. And than life becomes magical 🤩

Thanks so much, it’s good to be back 💃🏻💃🏻

See… the sound of rain makes you go… breathhhhh… a pause even if it is for a moment.
So far my day have been wonderful, still adjusting to the time difference hehehe 🤭
Hope your day will be wonderful too.

Rain rain is also good for Mother Nature… we need it. But I understand fully.
Enjoy today Denise 🤗🤗🥰

Oh, yeah! It is good to be back. Did you like the rest of your trip to Boston? I need to make my way over to your profile. I need more time in my day!! :) So, tell me, is the US (or that part of it as it really is diversified) what you expected? More? Less? Many places were nothing like I expected and most of them were more than what I expected.

The place that you will be transferred to, is it what you hoped for?

I liked the last bit of our trip. But the 4 days turned out to be only 2 full days in Boston. Wayyyy to less time to explore. And the first full day it was raining hehehe 🤭 but that made for empty streets. (Mostly)

We loved the areas we explored. We even went into Connecticut for 5 minutes hahaha
Went through New York State up to Vermont for the day. So we did have some amazing road trips.
Haven’t shared anything yet. As I bought a new camera 📸 and only at home could transfer the photos to my laptop. Still going through them. Will share soon, probably tomorrow 😉🤓

Some places we had on the list turned out not for us. But others we were pleasantly surprised by. The only big thing we need to decide is. Do we want walkable things close by. Like a shop and restaurant (what means for us 30 minute walk would be fine) and public transport even if it is just a bus to something larger. Or do we want to be fully in nature. A garden is a must!
As we will be renting first anyway, we will have more time to decide.

It felt so good the larger area. It would fit us and we would fit there. We met such friendly people… we loved the fresh air. The cooler air. Even the rain hehehe 🤭
The nature is just like I thought it would be. Love it already. Moved in my mind. Now the paperwork.

We are concentrating on that area. But we are prepared for changes too. As the company is still discussing many things.
All is fine as long as we move out of Spain, we outgrew it soooo much.

I was hoping you moved around in your travels, as you did. When you happen upon a town or area that is definitely not you, it is best to move on. I am from Connecticut and there are places I never go to. :) OK, I went and decided, no way! I have lived both ways and I like being able to walk, but, that brings other problems. Traffic, higher insurance, (more accidents) higher taxes usually. People commuting. Living a little out can bring other problems, no public transportation, medical/doctors /grocery/hardware stores further. But, it has tradeoffs. You get more for your money in housing/property. Will you have kids? You have so many options. Glad you are going to rent. I wouldn't do it any other way.

Yes, we needed to move around as much as possible. And we saw really a lot of places and areas.
We are drawn to living a bit out of it all. Much more than living in a busy area. We won’t move to a city. Nope. Maybe an edge of a small village or between two. We will see.
We prefer space and a garden. And the perks that come with it. It is really a trade off.
We are still young enough to travel and drive a car. 🙂

We (actually I) have moved so many times and lived in such different places. Countryside, villages and in the centre of a large city. Mountains and sea side and everything in between. We should know what we would prefer by now.
If I crave a city, I just visit it.

Renting first is the best starting point for us. Than we have time to search for our home to settle and stay. 😊🥰 kids… we are way last that point 😉
Have a lovely evening Denise.

I mostly drive to the city. A house was built out enough to be convenient to work and the city, but, able to enjoy the freedom of living out and having the gardens. I love gardens. And peach trees and apples, pears, kiwi, and pomegranate- oh! Figs! many of them.

I use mass transit, but, far enough out that a car is easier for me.

We are still young enough to travel and drive a car

Haha! I don't think I will ever be too old for that! :)

No way! I was waiting for the kids! Oh, well. Another lifetime. :) I know you will find the perfect set up. Wait for another year, prices are falling weekly.

Yes, sounds convenient. But I know you are looking for a bit further out too. As it is getting more busier.
Gardens are a must. For us veggies, herbs and fruits too 😁 and nature close by for walks/ trails. 🥰

You are right, we are probably never too old for driving and traveling. 😊

Really… hahaha we are not the youngest any more either. Another lifetime for hubby indeed.

Timing wise it would be perfect with the falling prices. Now getting there first.
Tomorrow we have a new meeting about progress and what the delays are. 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Beautiful Fall shots. I suppose like many things, dealing with Covid is a balance. I am not big on being around a lot of people even before the pandemic, so I dont feel like I lost out on too much. Except for going to Chinese buffets...I really missed a lot of good meals. I hope to remedy that sooner rather than later!

I think you are right. I guess that was lucky for you that you were not used to being with so many people. It probably made it a lot easier to retire from life. I was used to a lot of people and nothing changed for me for a long time.

I know you miss those Chinese Buffets, but, now with your reason for being there is gone, you wouldn't even be going now! You know that a Chinese buffet is really not great for you, right? :) Unless they turn up with an all-you-can-eat Salad Bar!

Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving your words.
