The Paradox of Connectivity: Is Technology Bringing Us Closer or Driving Us Apart?

Hi.

I have been thinking about what to write and I have been surfing on the internet for that for hours. This happens to me when I go brainless. I realized that I have been using my cell phone for hours. My screen time is going up with each passing day. This gave me the idea to share my little knowledge about this topic with you all.

Well, we live in a world that is connected and digitized. Technology has revolutionized the way we interact, think and it has impacted our lifestyle in so many different ways. The perks of it are so many, but we cannot just overlook the downside of it. It is not for me to decide if it is harmful or has more benefits. I just share what I think.

I think that social media has created an illusion of connectivity. We think that we are connected through social media with our friends living away from us, but it is just an illusion. When we meet those friends and family, we do not feel anything the way we should. I mean I have seen and sat with my friends after a long time. Whenever we sit together, they open their cell phones and indulge in a totally different world and there is no longer a real life communication.

This has happened to me so many times. I think it is because of social media addiction. The short videos and reels have killed our attention span and we cannot focus on anything for more than one or two minutes.

This is really sad. One of my friends even told me that she had been doing mindless scrolling on social media for hours and this is how she spent her entire summer vacation. I want to know your opinion about it. What do you think about it? I guess, the access and time limit should be reduced to improve the attention spans and strengthen real life communication.

Thanks for reading my blog. Have a peaceful day. I have taken these pictures with my Iphone XR. Take care.

I think the deals depends on each individual to choose how he/she wants to interact with the social world, just as you have said, social media has stopped some real time meetings, people prefer doing everything with their devices
