Crochet Balaclava(ski-mask)
#needlework
Hello everyone, it has been a very very long time since I last came on here and I missed connecting with everyone. Today I’ll be showing you a balaclava I made for a client.
A client reached out to me and said he wanted to get a balaclava and that he’d be using it for a masked party. I got excited because it’s been a long time since I made a balaclava and to make it more interesting this one looked like it’ll be a lot of fun so I said why not!.
We discussed pricing and everything and he was okay with it. He had a few questions about the outcome and all that which I totally understand, anyone would want to know. I reassure him that it'll be good on him.
First I had to go get these colors from a supplier because I ran out of them at the shop. That took a while though because for some reason the supplier had an almost full store so I had to wait for it to clear out a little(I have issues with seeing a lot of people in one space. I’m not really a people’s person). When it cleared out I went straight to telling her the colors I wanted and I had it packed for me. I didn’t spend a lot of time at the shop after it cleared out.
Got back to mine and the work began. I looked at the reference picture for a long time and hour or so. I was trying to understand the pattern because it wasn’t a checkered stitch straight up. When I finally understood it I went straight to making it. (I’m going to put myself out here, I’ve never made a balaclava this way. I always made mine like a beanie so I decided to do this for a cleaner look) this was easier than I expected there was less calculations and it was smooth and fun.
At some point I got carried away and forgot to take pictures of most of it. I apologize for that. After making the joke for the eye I went to make the rest of the parts and I finished this in two days not 48 hours though because I was switching different projects but yeah it was easier to make than I ever expected.
Stitching the yarns to the balaclava was the most fun part. I just sat there and did that till I got the volume I wanted. I had to align the colors so pink won’t be in off-white I finished the front and did the back and I must say that I had so much fun with this.
I went on to trim the yarns that were excessively long from the eye space and the end at the back too.
I made the delivery the same day I finished it and my client loved it so much.
This is a list of the things I used while making this hat:
*measurement tape.
*4.0mm hook.
*stitch marker.
*Darning needles.
Ps: the pictures used here belong to me and were taken with my mobile phone.
