Up’s and downs of the Tricky Trees

So after the euphoria of last weeks win against Liverpool we got to see Forest play away again vs Brighton.

Two expected changes to the Forest lineup with Hudson-Odoi and Elanga returning to the starting 11. The reds started as they had left off last week, and how we expect most away performances will go against the top 10 teams, with the defensive block looking for those fast breaks.

It only took 12 minutes for that to work as Gibbs-White broke down the right and cut it back for Hudson-Odoi although he failed to get on the end of it he did manage to get his foot in first and win a penalty. Chris Wood (glad I added him to my @hivefpl team!) slotted it away.

Forest looked in control till 40 minutes then a slight deflection on a cross gave Brighton an equaliser before it all got turned on its head with a dodgy looking free kick that Danny Welbeck curled around the wall just before the break.

Forest made 3 changes at half time but couldn’t find their stride and hung on by their fingernails before another break got them back in the game as Ramon Sosa opened his account for Nottingham Forest after an unselfish pass from fellow sub Jota Silva

The game wasn’t without further incident as Morgan Gibbs-White was sent off for a 2nd yellow card despite the ref indicating he had got the ball! 🤯

We stay unbeaten and MGW gets to have a rest next week, interesting to see if Jota Silva gets a start or Elliot Anderson moves forward with Ryan Yates coming in.

Overall going into 2 away matches against Liverpool and Brighton we have to be happy with 4 points, a lot of good things to take away. We are back at the city ground next Saturday against Fulham

Other happenings this week -

It’s been 20 years this week since Brian Clough passed away, Forest’s most famous manager of the last 50 years is still remembered at every home match during a pre match video on the big screens, let’s hope Nuno can bring just some of that success over the coming seasons.

It was also 3 years ago this week that Steve Cooper came to Nottingham Forest and changed everything, it may not have ended well but it was the beginning of our rise to the Premier League.

Nottingham Forest owner, Marinakis, once again showed his generosity by matching money raised after a local youth football ground was vandalised
