A New painting in my Animal Series : Christabel Dormouse

mouse1small1.jpg
Christabel was dressed in her smartest traveling costume as she boarded the train to visit her sisiter.

Christabel was married to the local vicar and one made a penny stretch. Her father had been disapointed when his favorite daughter married a second son; even more so when he realized he was merely the village vicar.

"He's not even a living from his families estates," worried her Father, hoping at the very least for a fine vicarage on the grounds of her husband's family rambling estates.

"But, I love him Father." was all she said and melted his old heart.

Today she was off to visit her sister who had married well. Christabel pulled down her sleeve to cover the area she'd mended many times. She loved her little cottage next the village church and her garden's and little library and of course her dear husband, meant everything to her.

Being Poor was bearable when one had those things.

The Sketch before color

I've again been SO busy this month on my little cottage. I've been painting walls and hunting inexpensive treasures at local thrift shops. I'm really trying to spruce the place up before the rental season, but that means I've not been able to be on here as often as I like, but I'm still finding time to create my little creatures.

I loved the idea of a little cherished mouse daughter defying her father and marrying the second son of the local 'big family' only to be a Vicar's wife in a little village. I hope you enjoy her as well.

I also hope you find a moment in your day to indulge in your own passions.

Simple and beautiful. The illustration is very good. No extravagance and very good use of color.
