K50 - One of the most beautiful waterfalls in Vietnam

avatar

Hello travel lovers, what is your favorite destination that impressed you the most so far? For me, there are some places that make a strong impression on me. Among them, K50 waterfall is one of my favorite destinations. Plus, for me, K50 is one of the two most beautiful waterfalls in Vietnam. K50 waterfall is located deep in the Kon Chu Rang nature reserve, in Son Lang commune, K'Bang district, Gia Lai province. It is located deep in the forest between the border of Gia Lai and Binh Dinh provinces. The journey there is quite arduous, but I assure you the reward is totally worth it.

To get to K50 waterfall, first we need to go to Kon Chu Rang nature reserve. Me and my friends live at Mang Den which is about 50km from there. It took us more than an hour to drive to the gate of Kon Chu Rang nature reserve, where we had to register with the rangers in order to enter the reserve. To go from the gate of the reserve to K50 waterfall, we have to go through 17km of forest road. We decided to hire locals to drive us on their special motorbikes for the first 10km and we hiked the remaining 7km to discover the beauty of nature at the reserve.

The hiking was tough, but finally we made it.

The small path through the forest leading to the K50 waterfall is not flat. There were slopes up to 45 degrees, which made us quite exhausted because we carried a lot of items. However, what motivates us to continue the journey is the beauty of K50 waterfall and the nature of Kon Chu Rang nature reserve. I must say that the ecosystem at Kon Chu Rang Nature Reserve is one of the most diverse among the many tropical forests in Vietnam that I have come across. You can easily encounter different giant trees along the way. In addition you will also find various beautiful low-lying and parasitic plants such as mushrooms. The weather and soil conditions along with the good protection and conservation of the rangers have kept the diversity of the ecosystem there. I really appreciate that.

After about 3 hours of exhausting hiking, we finally reached the K50 waterfall. Although the journey there is quite ardous, the final reward is worth it. K50 waterfall is also known as Hang En waterfall. Hang En means swallow's cave. Because there are many swallows nesting behind K50 waterfall. Mother Nature has created a masterpiece deep in the forest of Kon Chu Rang nature reserve. The water flows from deep in the forest of the reserve creating a beautiful waterfall when it is blocked by a 50m high cliff. For that reason, it is called K50. K50 waterfall looks majestic whether from a distance or up close. I felt so small when I approached the waterfall. It also showed me how strong the power of nature is.

Do you see the king kong-shaped rock?

After enjoying the majestic beauty from the front of K50 waterfall, we hiked to the big cave behind the waterfall, which is home to the swallows. When I set foot there, I had to say "WOW", it was just awesome. It is a large cave behind the waterfall. The steam from the waterfall makes the cave so wet and the path so slippery. We had to use ropes to climb up and down the steep cave to continue our journey to discover its majestic beauty. I got completely wet after going through that cave, but that's okay, I felt so lucky and amazing to explore it.

Below are some more photos I took from above with my drone. Through these photos, I hope you will have more panoramic views of the beauty of this waterfall. This can be said to be a wonderful gift from mother nature. I hope people will protect and preserve this beauty for generations to come. If you have the opportunity to come to Vietnam, do not miss this beautiful waterfall, and I'm more than happy to become your guide there.

Do you see me? I'm so tiny compared to the waterfall

The steam from the waterfall combined with the rays of the sun created a beautiful rainbow.
