A great day in remote Vi R'Ngheo village
Hi Hivers,
How are you today? Today I would like to take you to a beautiful and unspoiled village, which is Vi R'Ngheo. Vi R'Ngheo is a remote village of Dak Tang commune, Kon Plong district. It's about 42km from the central of Mang Den town. I know about this place from one of my local friend's recommendation. Surrounded by mountains and forests, Vi R'Ngheo has a rustic beauty. Located in a remote area, the road there is quite bad because of the erosion after many heavy rains in the region. It took me almost three hours to get there.
The journey to the village is quite tough, but I have to say that it was definitely worthy. The nature surrounding the village is so beautiful with dense jungle, green hills and meadows. The houses are built in the middle of a valley nestled between mountains. From the afar, we can easily see the communal house in the middle of the village. It's the biggest and the most sacred house in the village of Xo Dang people, where they organize important and big events of the village. We can also see rice fields throughout the village. Living in a remote area, people here lead a self-sufficient life.
The houses in the village are mainly built from wood, bamboo and stone. They were built around the communal house. Most of the houses here have a wooden porch in the front.
As soon as I stepped into the village, I immediately felt peaceful. Far from the noisy and bustling life in big cities. Life here goes on slowly and peacefully. When going around the village, I came across different kinds of animals like buffalo, cow, pig, dog, chicken, duck,...which were also enjoying their life.
One thing I really like about this village is the people here's sense of hygiene and environmental protection. I had the opportunity to talk to the village leader and I learned that this is a cultural feature of the village. Trash cans are located throughout the village. Below is the sign reminding the people to put trash in the bin. And another sign is placed in the common water tank area reminding everyone to maintain common hygiene.
While walking around the village, I had the opportunity to meet and talk with the people in the village. They seemed shy at first and didn't want to interact with strangers, but because my friend is a villager here, then everyone became more friendly with me. They are hard working and honest people. They mostly work on farm for their living. I especially like the innocent eyes of the children here. They seemed to be very curious about a strange guy like me wandering in the village.
After wandering the village, my friend took me back to his home for lunch. And everyone there was so hospitable. And they were not only the members in his family but also his neighbors. They gathered around the stove to prepare the lunch. That was a really cozy atmosphere in that open kitchen. That's a perfect concept of a kitchen when I think about a happy family. I was considered a special guest and they treated me red rice, fried chicken and grilled snake-headed fish. Red rice is a special rice which is planted in this village. And the snake-headed fish were caught in the lake nearby. I had to say that I had a wonderful lunch with the local there. They were so kind to me.
