Standing Still : A Freewrite
I stood in front of the door, my hand hovering uncertainly over the knob. The room beyond was shrouded in mystery, and I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. I had always been one to embrace the unknown, but for some reason, this felt different.
I hesitated, trying to gather my thoughts. What was it that made this room feel so ominous? I couldn't put my finger on it, but something about it just seemed wrong.
Despite my reservations, I knew I couldn't turn back now. I had come too far to turn back, and I couldn't shake the feeling that whatever lay beyond that door was something I needed to see.
With a deep breath, I finally mustered the courage to knock. The sound echoed through the empty hallway, and I waited anxiously for a response.
As the seconds ticked by, I began to regret my decision. What if I had made a mistake? What if this room held something dangerous, something that would put me in harm's way?
But it was too late to turn back now. The door was already opening, and I was face to face with whatever lay beyond.
Wonderful job! Great suspense, and very immersive.
