The Portablism Scratch DJ Culture
DJ meetups, jams, and the essence of passing on the knowledge and beauty of DJing, especially in the realms of Turntablism and Portablism culture, have always been a deep seated passion of minefor a very long time now. The importance and beauty of these community meetups and jams extends far beyond showcasing one's skills; it's more about preserving a culture of rich tradition, sharing knowledge, and fostering creativity.
This year, I kick started SkratcherBeirut, which is part of the part of the global Skratcher community. Its inception aimed to provide individuals a space to delve into the art and beauty of the Turntablism culture, all within the embrace of a supportive community. It's about bringing those "Bedroom DJ" and those who love the art and practice it in silence out into the open, offering them a chance to share their musical expressions with like minded passionate DJ's and fans of this culture. The beauty of Skratcher community it welcomes enthusiasts of all ages, nurturing the Turntablists of the future.
Currently I am still based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, I actively contribute to SkratcherKL, where I assist in organizing and promoting community events in collaboration with the dedicated team. Whenever I find myself traveling, particularly to Dubai (although less so due to the ongoing Covid situation), I enthusiastically join SkratcherDubai for their jams. As my @groove-logic alter ego, I love rocking my 2 custom PT01 scratch tables!
I modified both, one with the Jesse Dean fader and the other I took the fader out and use the Mixfader which lets me use a DVS kind of setup. My next purchase is going to be the new Stanton table, that is like all the upgrades I have wanted from the Numark, lol.
For mixes I rock my iPad with the Traktor Z1 controller. Simple compact setup that I can take to any venue in a backpack. Throw in one of the PT01 tables and I can have a great time, lol.
Yooo! so dope to meet more Portablist on Hive 💯 love the PT1's especially after u mod but it still feels like lego for me lol my personal favorite and what we call now the SL1200 of Portablism is the Omni from Headachesound make sure to check that 1 out if u haven't yet I got a PT1 (full Mod's) and an Omni and I can assure you that Omni tops all of them and that includes the STX 🙌
only thing I love that STX has is the ability to instantly record your session from the deck itself on the fly apart from that its still feel plasticy and switching fader if you are a left/right handed not as flexible unless u go down the road and modify it also but make sure to check https://www.headachesound.com/

Yeah, I have had my issues, but still use them for primary posting. I am wanting to do a separate video front end for @blocktunes but don’t have the funds ATM to run the servers I need to run for it.
