The Endless Hope of Harvest: The Benefits of Being a Farmer
To be a farmer is not only a job but a whole lifestyle, for which there are so many pros. But perhaps the most profound of all the blessings of a farmer is that hope which comes with the belief and the start of a new planting season. Whenever I go through the farm, I see new growth and promising flowers and I can easily say that am hopeful of a rash of harvest in the nearest future.
Several of the pleasures of being a farmer revolve around watching the results of one’s labor manifest in front of the grower’s eyes. It doesn’t have to always be with a field full of yellowish-orange wheat that is waiting for reaping or a tree laden with fruits ripening on the branches, and yet the feeling of having been rewarded for all one’s efforts is equally exhilarating. Just imagine how it will be to sit back and watch your crops sprout and grow and knowing that they are ready for harvest in a few weeks’ time is something that cannot be described.
Alongside the material gains that one receives upon the harvest, being a farmer symbolizes authority over something and the pleasure from the work done with the Earth. This awareness will balance out the relationship because farmers have a dependency on the land from which they garner income from and the land requires tender by the farmers to nurture crops. Such bond creates affection to nature and makes people have a feeling of responsible to nature.
Therefore, in conclusion let it be noted that being a farmer is something that has a lot of advantages on all levels. From the fantasy of a successful crop yield to the achievement of successfully tilling and cultivating crops with the land, farming is unlike any other. Just before the harvest season of my farm, I realize how much it is a pleasure to be a farmer, to toil the soil, and then harvest the fruit of my labor.
