萬聖節要扮成甚麼？ / What should you dress up as for Halloween?

每到了萬聖節期間，都會有大大小小的活動，其實，我們本來是根本沒在過萬聖節的，只是近幾年來，幼兒園都會介紹給孩童，萬聖節這個特別的節目，而很多少年男女，本來很特愛這類新奇古怪的節目，所以，近幾年來，萬聖節在這裡是越來越盛行，幼兒園好像是要求孩童一定要裝扮成不同角色，於是，壓力就落在孩童的父母身上，本身就很愛幫孩子打扮的父母比較沒差，但是，本身很忙的父母就不一定有時間及精力來應付幼兒園的要求。

幾乎每年朋友都會舉辦萬聖節活動，朋友的活動並不硬性要求，我們一定要裝扮，但是有個裝扮比賽，由所有參加的朋友票選出當年最佳裝扮的前三名，可以獲得獎品及大家的掌聲，我記的前年，鬼滅之刃很熱門，活動當天有好多位朋友裝扮成鬼滅之刃的角色，去年是咒術迴戰正當紅，於是，我們又能看見咒術迴戰的角色，出沒在活動中，重點不在於獎品，是在於參與感及榮譽感，看到大家精心打扮的裝扮，有些讓人驚艷，有些則會讓人發出會心一笑，有種，我懂您的感覺。

隨著活動時間差不多了，前幾天，天氣好的時候，我也去賣場看看有甚麼不用太花錢的萬聖節小物，可以讓我用合理的價錢，蹭一些萬聖節的氣氛，選擇賣場是因為前幾年我都有看到有個萬聖節專區，專門陳列萬聖節相關物品，之前，有在那邊挑到一些有意思的商品，今年的萬聖節專區也不讓我失望，V怪客面具只要七十九元台幣，只要戴個面具，就可以名正言順地說，我有裝扮，這是我前幾年用的套路，孩童的全套裝扮，如迪士尼公主或蜘蛛人等的價錢落在三百到一千元之間，算是不便宜，但是省時間，自己手工做的話，花的時間及精力遠勝過買現成的套裝。

Every Halloween, there are all kinds of events, big and small. We didn’t really celebrate Halloween in the past, but in recent years, preschools have started introducing this special occasion to kids. A lot of young boys and girls love these kinds of quirky, novel celebrations, so Halloween has become more and more popular here. Preschools even require children to dress up as different characters, and the pressure falls on the parents. For parents who love dressing up their kids, it’s no big deal, but for those who are busy, they might not have the time or energy to keep up with the preschool’s demands.

Almost every year, my friends throw a Halloween party. They don’t strictly require us to dress up, but there’s a costume contest where all the attendees vote for the top three costumes. The winners get a prize and a round of applause. I remember a couple of years ago, Demon Slayer was really popular here, and a bunch of friends dressed up as characters from the comicbook. Last year, it was Jujutsu Kaisen that was all the rage, so we saw characters from that series at the party. The focus isn’t really on the prizes; it’s more about the sense of participation and pride. Seeing everyone’s carefully thought-out costumes is fun—some are impressive, while others make you smile with that "I get you" kind of feeling.

As the event gets closer, I went to the store on a nice day recently to check out some affordable Halloween stuff, hoping to join in on the holiday vibe without spending too much. I chose this store because in previous years, they had a Halloween section with themed items. I’d found some interesting things there before, and this year didn’t disappoint either. They had V for Vendetta masks for only NT$79, and just by wearing one, I could say, “Hey, I’m dressed up!” That’s been my go-to trick for a few years now. Full costumes for kids, like Disney princesses or Spiderman, range from NT$300 to NT$1,000, which isn’t exactly cheap. But buying ready-made costumes saves time, because making one from scratch takes way more effort and energy than just picking something up at the store.
