I believe GTA 6 is going to be one of those games that's going to make it big time, maybe staying in the limelight for more than a decade. The kind of investment Rockstar has made is just too much.
If ex-Rockstar veteran Obbe Vermeij is to be believed, then this game's dominance could continue without any other worthy competitor for several years because of its unparalleled pedigree and lack of any meaningful competition.
Although Vermeij himself, who has not worked at Rockstar in 15 years, said he didn't have insider information, he suggested Rockstar will be taking all the time they need and then some, to get the game perfect. With the way they even postponed the release you could tell they want to make it the greatest game ever made.
He suggested that we may not see it until 2025 at the earliest, with the PC version being released by 2027 at the latest. Damn I'll be almost 30 years by that time. I might as well prepare my Xbox 1 console because I can't wait that long for PC versions.
It's also worth noting that Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar's parent company, probably wouldn't demand an earlier release given their history of not really mucking with Rockstar's creative process.
And also with how GTA 5 has been holding up these last decade-plus updates, along with its pretty robust GTA Online, it seems like GTA 6 is going to follow suit. It's not only expected to be the biggest release of 2025 but could be one that defines the future of the whole gaming industry. Teasers for next-generation visual and performance benchmarks on consoles like the PS5 Pro-only create a very palpable hype for GTA 6 and for good reason.
The day GTA 6 gets released will be a memorable one and it's going to spread faster than anything. You'll see gamers playing GTA 6 games and posting the experience online to get lots and lots of attention online.
