Crema Roma Coffee experience... coconut and carob

On an outing closer to where we live, we were able to find an establishment that serves quite exotic variations of cold brew coffee. We arrived at Crema Roma Coffee with the intention of simply having something traditional, but upon seeing the menu we noticed that there were combinations that we had not known existed until that moment. Something that I have noticed and that I have mentioned in previous posts, is that the cold coffee that I have tried here in Peru, is usually very sweet, so it was not easy to make the decision, but we were already there and it was certainly an opportunity to try something different.

When we looked at the menu we found Cappuccinos that came with Lucuma, Whisky, Arequipe, Algarrobina, Coconut, Pisco, among other combinations that frankly were not to my liking. So we decided to order a coconut and an algarrobina, why these flavors, well, coconut seemed to be an interesting companion for coffee, we knew it would not have pieces of coconut, but we assumed it would be coconut milk and that did not seem like a bad idea. On the other hand, we chose carob because here in Peru they make spectacular ice creams with that flavor, so our minds thought it would be a good idea.

The truth is that minutes later our order arrived and curiosity was killing us, each of us tried it and I think there were mixed feelings from both of us. The coconut one had very little coffee flavor, maybe there was an error in the amounts of the ingredients at the time of preparation or simply the coconut flavor is invasive and generated that sensation, but regarding the sweetness it was quite balanced. On the other hand, the carob was quite sweet, but at least I felt firmly that I was drinking coffee, so the latter was a great success; however, I think that on another occasion I would ask for another type of coffee, perhaps the one with whiskey.

We accompanied these two drinks with a circular waffle which is cut in four parts with nutella and arequipe, and topped with strawberries and whipped cream. This one did not have any negative comments from us, it is just what you see, it tastes great and served perfectly to complement those two eccentric coffees.

The final balance was positive and could have been much better, expectations were quite high, but there are always risks when we order things we don't know or haven't tried before, so we can't complain. would I go back to this place? Probably yes, but I would order a different kind of drink. It was a pleasure to share my experience with all of you. Regards!

Based on the past conversation we had about coffee in that well-known place, it is even more evident that here you breathe coffee from the moment you enter the place. Let's start with the waffle, it looks spectacular; as for the drinks, I was intrigued by the coconut, I assume the same as you, that maybe the flavor is too intrusive for the coffee, making it lose something elemental. On the other hand, the other drink had a better trace of coffee, which certainly indicates that there was not a good balance in the previous one.

Basándonos en la conversación pasada que tuvimos sobre el café en aquel reconocido lugar, es más evidente que aquí se respira el café desde que entras al lugar. Empecemos por el waffle, se ve espectacular; en cuanto a las bebidas pues me intrigó mucho lo del coco, presumo lo mismo que tu, que puede ser que el sabor es muy intrusivo para el café haciéndole perder algo elemental. Por otro lado la otra bebida tenía mejor rastro del café, lo que nos indica ciertamente que no había buen balance en la anterior.

Cuando pruebes el de whisky por favor tráelo que ese suena muy interesante y posiblemente la experiencia sea bien particular. Un abrazo grande mi querida Dina 🌹💖 he disfrutado tu post y por cierto, me gusta el ambiente del lugar jeje... You Rockkkkk!!!! 👍😎🔥☕❤️

The Waffle was really good and I loved the presentation!!!! And yes it was strange that it was extremely sweet, I felt that it lacked that strong flavor that I always like to highlight.
I hope to try others later as I mentioned, it's good to train the palate hahaha, really, except for that detail everything was great.

I can understand the hesitancy to order coffee that may be too sweet, this is a personal aversion of mine as well. It sounds as if you had a few gripes, but the experience was nice overall. Thanks for sharing! :)

Coffee with coconut, I've never tried that before, it makes me curious too, although I think what you say is true, coconut has a very strong flavor and the flavor can stand out above the coffee.
The place looks very nice.

Yes, coconut tends to be a little abrasive but I think there has to be that perfect combination for it to be just right and not lose the flavor of the protagonist.

Coconut and carob in coffee? Now that's a 'brew-tiful' twist! Seems like Crema Roma Coffee is playing a game of 'flavor roulette' with every cup.

Next time, maybe the whiskey coffee will hit the jackpot, or at least make up for the elusive coffee taste in the coconut blend.

I prepare coffee with coconut milk at home and it is wonderful, but the coffee flavor is not lost, it is a mixture of coconut and coffee. Delicious. The place looks quite cozy and has very attractive flavors. Greetings @dinaaczib
