San Nicolas in 50 mm - Architecture and Street Photography | Monomad Challenge [ENG/ESP]

Here something interesting and quite funny has happened :) this is one of the wonders of street photography, capturing moments like this is rewarding. This time the protagonist for this series of photos is the 50mm lens, I wanted to walk and have to get closer to the structures and people when taking the photos. Behind them is the pink house in Plaza de Mayo, Buenos Aires.

There are many, many beautiful and iconic buildings in this area full of pure architecture of great value, some almost a century old and others that are much older than a century. The Edificio Banco Argentino Uruguayo is about to turn a century old in 4 years. It is one of my favorites in the area.

Acá ha pasado algo interesante y bastante divertido :) ésta es una de las maravillas de la fotografía de calle, capturar momentos como este es gratificante. Ésta vez el protagonista para esta serie de fotos es el lente 50 mm, quería caminar y tener que acercarme más a las estructuras y personas al momento de tomar las fotos. Detrás de ellos se encuentra la casa rosada en Plaza de Mayo, Buenos Aires.

Hay muchísimos edificios hermosos e icónicos en esta zona llena de pura arquitectura de gran valor, algunos con casi un siglo y otros que tienen mucho más que un siglo. El Edificio Banco Argentino Uruguayo está por cumplir un siglo en 4 años. Es uno de mis favoritos de la zona.

Look at the imposing beauty that characterized the buildings at the beginning of the last century. It was finished in 1928 with French academicist style, today it is the Head of Ministries.

Further down we have part of what is the municipal palace but the appreciation on this occasion I do it in the photographic field. I took the photo at grass level trying to center the building as much as possible and trying to get exactly this result. I like how it highlights the large number of windows and balconies.

Miren esa imponencia y belleza que caracterizaba los edificios a principios del siglo pasado. Fué finalizado en 1928 con estilo academicista francés, hoy en día es la Jefatura de Ministros.

Más abajo tenemos parte de lo que es el palacio municipal pero la apreciación en esta ocasión la hago en el ámbito fotográfico. Tomé la foto al ras del pasto intentando centrar lo más posible el edificio y buscando conseguir exactamente este resultado. Me gusta como resalta la gran cantidad de ventanas y balcones.

Here we have one of the streets where many banking headquarters are located, just in this part you can see in the background the neighborhood of Puerto Madero and the Hilton Hotel.

Acá tenemos una de las calles donde se ubican gran cantidad de sedes centrales bancarias, justo en esta parte se puede observar en el fondo el barrio de Puerto Madero y el Hotel Hilton.

At one point I was sitting on one of the steps of a building, taking a break, smoking a cigarette and letting things happen. Many times we go out to capture what we see right away so I stopped doing this and waited a bit. It was precisely at this moment that I took the first photo.

En un momento estaba sentado en uno de los escalones de un edificio, tomando un descanso, fumando un cigarrillo y dejando que las cosas pasen. Muchas veces salimos a capturar lo que vemos de inmediato así que deje de hacer esto y esperé un poco. Fue precisamente en este momento en el cual tome la primera foto.

I thought it was a very good idea to capture the passing of some people while focusing on the building in the background, this time I decided to use the lens at an aperture larger than 2.8, most of them were at 5 and 9 actually.

Me pareció muy buena idea capturar el paso de algunas personas mientras enfocaba al edificio del fondo, está vez decidí usar el lente a una apertura mayor de 2.8 en su mayoría fueron a 5 y 9 realmente.

This is another one of my favorite photos from this set, the diagonal pink house building and the fact that those people were there walking around made it even more interesting.

Esta es otra de mis fotos favoritas de éste set, el edificio de la casa rosada en diagonal y el hecho de que esas personas estuviesen allí caminando lo hizo aún más interesante.

This is another view of the pink house from the front, in the Plaza de Mayo and behind me is the Cabildo of Buenos Aires, which I took two pictures exclusively of the upper part.

Ésta es otra vista de la casa rosada de frente, en la plaza de mayo y detrás de mi se encuentra en Cabildo de Buenos Aires, el cual me dedique a tomarle dos fotos exclusivamente a la parte superior.

If I had been more detailed at this point I think I would have centered the tower of the Cabildo better so that the two domes of the municipal palace that can be seen in the background can be seen better, although they can still be seen from both sides.

Si hubiese sido más detallista en este momento creí que hubiese centrado mejor la torre del Cabildo para que se vea mejor las dos cupulas del palacio municipal que se ven al fondo, aunque de igual manera se pueden apreciar de ambos lados.

This is the main entrance of the Cabildo, two arches and second floor with the flag.

Ésta es la entrada principal del Cabildo, dos arcos y primer piso con la bandera.

After taking these photos I walked a bit, leaving the Plaza de Mayo and went to another area where you can find this type of architecture styles but this time looking for a chiaroscuro, more contrasts and shadows.

Después de tomar estas fotos caminé un poco, saliendo de la plaza de mayo y fuí a recorrer otra zona donde se encuentra este tipo de estilos de arquitectura pero en esta oportunidad buscando como objetivo un claroscuro, más contrastes y sombras.

I mean this kind of photos, this is a simple window of a random building but it is divided in two parts where half of the window is illuminated by daylight and the other part is covered by shadow. If there was a person there it would give it a more attractive composition, I think.

Me refiero a este tipo de fotos, esto es una simple ventana de un edificio cualquiera pero se divide en dos partes donde la mitad de la ventana está iluminada por la luz del día y la otra parte está cubierta por sombra. Si hubiese una persona allí le daría una composición más atractiva, pienso.

The same happens with the photo below where the main focus is on the dome, you can see how there are shadow farms covering the building while a part of some branches enter the composition.

Lo mismo pasa con la foto de abajo donde el punto principal está en la cúpula, pueden observar como hay granjas de sombras que cubren al edificio mientras que una parte de unas ramas entran en la composición.

Diagonal Norte covered with buildings and trees, the one that stands out the most is the one in the middle, a neo-gothic style building that houses the headquarters of the COMAFI bank.

Diagonal Norte cubierto de edificios y árboles, el que más destaca alli es el del medio, edificio de estilo neogótico que tiene la sede del banco COMAFI.

Here I was trying to get some geometry, lines and a lot of detail in this shot, I don't know if it was a good shot but it has something that catches the eye.

Acá estaba intentando conseguir algo de geometría, líneas y mucho detalle en este sentido, no sé si fué una buena toma pero tiene algo que llama la atención.
