Puddles as Reflections in Street Photography (II)
Reflection Photography
Today is the turn of the second part of this set of reflection shots. For this style it will depend on the scene to choose whether it's in black and white or color, in this case I wanted to highlight the tones of the popular Corrientes avenue and the Obelisk of Buenos Aires. This area is very colorful due to its architecture, gastronomic establishments and shops in general.
This day I was exploring this area a little and taking advantage of composing images using the water wells as support material to create some reflections. In addition to this and in terms of editing, I decided to add bluish tones that usually look good for these compositions.
So... Let's appreciate them 🙂
This part of the avenue is pedestrian on weekends and at night there are usually street artists of all styles. You can see the obelisk in the background and a little traffic, I like how the yellow and orange tones stand out.
On the other side but on the same avenue I think we have a better reflection that provides us with better symmetry. On this side there are many famous theaters and at the same time you can see a certain contrast between ancient and modern architecture.
I took this photo from the other side of the avenue, if that cone wasn't there I would have gotten a cleaner image but we can't remove it or decide where the puddles will be 😂
Luckily, later on I was able to take a similar shot, but in the same way there was a traffic sign covering the structure of the obelisk.
One of the main aspects that I take into account to take these photos is to have something attractive to the eye, I can not just take a picture and reflect anything, something must draw attention and I always resort to buildings, perhaps because I have much fascination with the architecture of this type, such as the school "Presidente Roca".
Classical styles, monumentalist, golden columns and this kind of styles make all kinds of photographs look great, even black and white, reflections, portraits, cityscapes and so on.
What do you think about it?
For these photos I was already near Lavalle square and this is the famous Colon Theater, a national historic monument and considered one of the best theaters in the world in terms of size and acoustics.
It has an eclectic architectural style and it is impressive to be in front of this giant built in 1888 and inaugurated in 1908, more than 100 years of history.
But... let's look at it from another angle.
This is the side part of the building, it covers an entire block and looks very good over the years. A very well preserved building that continues to have the same usefulness and national and international artists perform here. In his time Luciano Pavarotti was here.
Down here is the subway station that takes us directly to this place, Tribunales station.
This is the second part of my reflection photography series that I am pleased to share with all of you, I hope you liked it. If you like to add anything I'll be happy to read you in the comments 🙂
Have a great and productive day ✨
That's all folks. Thanks for stopping by and appreciating.
